Sims Deluxe Edition installs but won't run

I am using a LiteOn LTR-52246 and made the image with the SafeDisc 2 settings. I burn the image on a backup CD and can use this to install the software on another machine. However, I cannot run the Sims program. It complains to insert the correct CD. If I insert the original CD it works fine. I tried both the RAW DAO and DAO/SAO methods without luck. Either way I get the same error when starting the application. Any ideas?

Hello and welcome to the forum.

If you are playing from a burner you must hide the CD-R/W ATIP using Ignore Media Type from the Tray Icon emulation options. Alcohol must be installed on this machine to do this. Alternatively, you can emu with Daemon Tools or CloneCD.

Playing from a CD/DVD-ROM does not matter.

If the backup does not run, try Bad Sectors emu. If it then works then the backup is not as it should be from a Litey 52x; although this burner is known to be hit or miss. Shoulda got an ASUS

I also have a lite-on 52x24x52. I tried burning Sims Hot Date, and it will install but will not run from the burner or the DVD, I've tried both with and without weak sectors, as well as with both Clony and Achohol, the only way it will even run is if I hide CDR Media. Does anyone have any suggestions, I'm out of ideas.

you HAVE to do this when playing from a burner

it probably won't run from the DVD because it was installed from the burner and is registry-wired to that drive letter

I loaded Alcohol onto my other machine to try what was suggested... hiding the CDRW. However, I am unable to find a way to do this. Any help would be appreciated.

I checked off hide media type but it still asks for the cd. I followed the directions that philamber gave here Also my burner is a Lite On 52246S

Are you trying to run the game from a different drive than that you used to install? As FutureProof said, many safedisc protected games are hotwired to run only from the installation drive.

From the tray icon, go to Emulation and check Bad Sectors. If the backup works then you have a bad backup or your Litey ain't cuttin' the mustard.

Did you use the safeDisc 2 profiles for read and write? Tried different media (reflection values count)?

i thought it was 2.72 something....
strange, i can play it from a burner
maybe another edition....
