| This error usually means that the media (medium) is incompatible with the attempted recording speed. See Illegal speed for this medium. Try reducing the recording speed or use a different brand of quality media. |

| The information is stored in the NeroHistory.log file. The most recent information is at the top of the file. Open the file with a text editor and copy and paste one burning session only. Most of the information in the log is a waste of forum space. The log may not record any obvious error other than what you have already stated. |

| Yes, try media that your writer supports writing at 20X. It seems like your writer do not support writing at full speed to Multimedia masters & machinery media.

| I used to have the exact same problem with my x8 Ricoh drive. Never got around it ... I had tried at least 12 different media (as ricoh suggested) and wasn't even able to write at x2 sometimes !! Always got the illegal speed for this medium nonsense... i finally return the drive for a full refund You could try updating the firmware, probably that will work. But first definetely try different media and see which works the best with your drive Some media worked better and some worse in my case (statistically) but all gave me the medium error sooner rather than later.

| hello samsung. Have you been through the Tool Tips? Rogue vxd & dll will do almost anything to Nero. Disable DMA on your gear in Device Manager. If you can burn, then you need to look for these rougue files, listed in Tool Tips and it will pay to update your chipset drivers, particularly if you have VIA or Intel Last edited by FutureProof; 14-07-2002 at 11:37. |

| This is one of the AOpen drives' characteristic! Many users of AOpen CDRW experience the same problem. If you could, get it exchanged! One of the solution I found for this drive is:- (It may sounds funny, but it works for me all time!) 1. Open My Computer 2. As your burning program going to start the burning process 3. Right before it start, right click on your CD-RW drive icon in My Computer, then try to select any option. Another way could be double click the drive icon just before it start to burn. It works when I am having Medium Speed Error with certain media. The laser seems to be very weak, try to make the CD-R spin(steps above) before the burning process start (When the light and spinning sound is starting and stopping < that's when it's gonna start burning) Conclusion is... Try to make the CD-R spin first... then the burning start... then you won't experience any M.S.Error. Sorry for my english. Just trying to help... |

| I have the same problem with my Aopen-burner. But it´s just with some CD-s. This time it´s 3T, which IMO should be pretty good... FutureProof: Your link to tool tips doesn´t work. I will look for it, but if you see this, maybe you can post the right adress ?! |
