I guess that it is impossible most of the times.

If your laptop has a USB (possibly USB2) port and you could put your hand on a USB DVD burner, you could solve the problem...

Which software is on the DVD? is it multiple programs with multiple installers? or is it a suite (such as adobe creative suite, ect) or is it something else?

The software is a 3d topographical map with 3 files that are .dat files that are 1.4 GB each ±. Too much for a CD.

Thanks for the USB tip. I do not have a USB cable either

I have spent so much time trying to find the software answer to this that I do not want to give up now.

Use ISO creation software to create an ISO of your source DVD in 650MB or 700MB chunks. Copy each chunk to CD (including the MDS file). Copy each chunk from CD to the harddrive on the laptop. Use image mounting software to mount the ISO image to a virtual drive. You can then install the software from the virtual drive as you would from a physical ROM drive.

Thanks for the ISO tip.

I found that WinRa also creates 700MB chunks in rar format. I have not figured out how to put it all back together again yet though.
