. Seems like a very popular and high-quality burner.

Anyway - to my question

Is it possible to find good and free software for copying protected DVD's? I have Nero 6 already - so perhaps some software that could remove the protection so Nero could copy it? I don't know.... Or do I have to buy a program lige CloneDVD or the like?

I am totally new as regards DVD-copying.

So - seems like it can be done with free software, but doesn't look like it's quick and easy.

I am a little tempted to buy DVD Cloner III ..... but I don't know. Looks like a very easy-to-use program, and it can copy on-the-fly.

By the way - my 1655 is actually here right now! It was delivered a few minuts ago - earlier than expected

It can be done with free software and there is no reason for you to spend any money although some authors ask for a donation.

If you want easy with a company that has a tradition of customer support, look at Slysoft products. AnyDVD and CloneDVD have a strong customer support base and updates are regularly provided.

I have to second the RipIt4Me, DVD Decrypter, FixVTS combo - all are free and work incredibly well. For transferring a DVD you own to your hard drive without protections, I don't think it can be beat.

Once you get it ripped to the hard drive without the protections, you can apply a wide variety of tools to help get the video output you prefer. Editing off the hard drive is faster than off of CD/DVD, especially if you process it multiple times. While I used to use AnyDVD, I'm finding that I prefer to run an app and have it get out of memory and not clog up any resources. So, I use RipIt4Me or sometimes DVD Fab Decrypter as a separate process, then when I exit those apps, they are done and out of the way.
