copying securom with alcohol

Hey all. After reading the forums I see the new securom seems to be a major pain in the A$$ to copy. I've been having some problems doing it myself. I tried to copy Unreal 2 (retail copy) using alcohol 1.4.0 build 114. It didn't work for me. I know a while back I tried copying Shadow of Destiny using same program. It doesn't work in my normal reader, so I have to install and run it from my cdwriter. My writer is the Lite-on 52x24x52x. Can someone tell me the settings, or methods used to copy this new Securom on SoD and Unreal 2?? If there have been tutorials posted can someone send me links? Any help is appreciated.

With alcohol on its own you can only make an RMPS emulation copy. Such a copy will only work if eithe alcohol or daemon tools is on the system and RMPS emulation is enabled.

If you want a copy that works without emulation, you must either use blindwrite or blackcheck's twinpeak tool together with a bwa file to patch an image in clonecd format.

ok I tried to make the bwa file in blindwrite on my lite-on 52x24x52x drive. I then tried to burn the image using blindwrite and it doesn't work. I still need a crack for the game. I shouldn't need one though. don't understand what you mean about patching a clonecd file though. Does everyone need to do that?

No you don't. You could always use your original cd.

If you want to use blindwrite, see the numerous posts by ViRuS2k on the subject. You may find that the Search button is quite helpful in this regard.

The other way in which a copy that works without emulation can be made is by making an image with ccd or alcohol (in ccd format), using twinpeak with a bwa file to patch the image, and then burning the patched image with ccd or alcohol. Again you will find that the Search button is quite helpful in this regard.

If neither method works then you can make an RMPS copy with alcohol or an autoplay copy with blindwrite. In either case, you will require emulation though.
