I used the profiles off cdfreaks (safedisk with aws) with clonecd 4.0.1.3 and I sucessfully backed up morrowind after patching it (since of course my cyberdrive can't burn sd2) but the issue now is that i can't backup sucessfully mohaa... I tried the same proceedures on my friend's computer with an hp burner 9500 with original firmware on it. fwi, my cyberdrive is the 40x cd078d and I tried reading the cd at it's lowest speed, my friends read it in half the time but still same results with it not working correctly. I'm not sure if betablocker is the right tool that i used to fix sd2 and should i put an emulation on the disk of sd2? one more question... should i use the sd2 burning option with the aws, the same i read it as, or use the 'game cd' burning option. i'm a green newb at this stuff and i know considerably less then people that burn on a regular basis. i know this is probably a software issue so i'm posting on this forum. should i try insecktors? different burning program? what are my options? i'm not sure if it is even reading right, so i'll try that again with both my burner and cdrom. any input would be appreciated!

I also know there is a digital signature on the cd, does that have something to do with it as well?
With a cyberdrive you'll need to be lucky. See here . Essentially your options are: 1. Try using clonecd to read and write with AWS enabled (either the Game CD profile with AWS or the custom profile with AWS). 2. Read with clonecd, patch the image with beta-blocker and burn without AWS (never use both beta-blocker and AWS on the same image as this guarantees a coaster). 3. Blindwrite with enhance weak sectors checked on burning (use any raw burning mode; SAO-RAW, DAO PQ or DAO PW). 4. CDMate with SAM checked on burning. 5. Blindwrite with Insektors. Any of the above might work but all may fail with your writer. Good luck.
Thanks for your input... yeah I had already read those forums about backing up images without a sd2killer and this what seems to be my problem.... both images i make back up good and play, install, everything.... it's just that i'm not sure betablocker version i have is the good one, i think it's 1.0.xxx and blindread works good as well, image works with that as well but insektors is shifty-> Problem seems to lie in my patch programs.... i'm not entirely sure that the betablocker or insektors is working for me and i know i don't have the most up to date complete verson that works with sd2 (and that probably backingup morrowind was a fluke) and i read my images at the lowest speed possible so it's not the problem of reading it correctly. what are the newest versions of insektors and betablocker that work? i found 2 version and both of them didn't work for me. I even did another image via clonecd and searched out 10,000 sectors and betablocked them as well. where can i find the newest, best functioning versions of betablocker and insektors? other then that i believe that it will work with an image as soon as i can patch them correctly. aspi and my nightmare (i was up until 4am getting my dumb computer working correctly again with xp, i hate downloading and dialup) i tried all the aspi and finally got it working with 4.71 - all of the troubleshooting tips I had received didn't say anything about removing the devices and then letting them autodetect... some of the faq files should probably be updated with this information for newbies (like me) the only reason why I did it after doing everything is that if I couldn't get my cdroms back i might as well delete them in the device manager
You can get the latest version of insektors at Blindwrite's site . I have no idea where you can get beta-blocker as I've never had to use it but a search of the clonecd forum will probably pay dividends.
Betablocker is really hard to find, especially the newest version. I've spent the last 3 hours trying to find it, and all the links I've found were either old versions that don't do the newest sd2.51 or the links are dead.... I've tried at least all the linkes that are on cdfreaks, both forums and website, german french links for that same version, www.cdrinfo.com, www.clonecd.com, www.clonecd.net and searched yahoo, google, dogpile, hotbot, and webcrawler. Guess I'm outta luck on it but I did manage to get the new version of insektors and hopefully, it don't mess up my atpi version like it did last night haha. **I just now just wouldn't bother with betablocker, it's ok but i think the newest insektors that I got will help me with my needs** Last edited by HALgorithm; 15-08-2002 at 00:05.
I've successfully backed up MOHAA with a Cyberdrive CW068D but strangely the backup only works with CDRW media. Backups with CDR media won't work. Installing the software and playing the game with the backup works fine. Also strangely, the game works without Hide CDR Media using the Cyberdrive. Backups work with my Cyberdrive, an LG 52X CDROM, and an old HP writer but don't work with an old 24X Toshiba which can read ordinary data CDRWs written with the Cyberdrive. I have a thread regarding this but I haven't received any new information. I used CloneCD 4.0.0.1, AWS, and the default Game Profile. I read at max speed and wrote to CDRW at max speed (12x).
