ConvertxtoDVD using 100% of CPU?????

Hi, guys...anybody experiencing this - when I run ConvertxtoDVD it's sucking up to 100% of my CPU juice? Not sure if this is normal...but it makes it difficult to be doing anything else while I'm converting a file...really slows it up. I'm using the newest version of the program...

Any words of wisdom would be appreciated...

Thanks!

i think you can lower the speed of the conversion by priority in settings

i have the same problem as well

also can you tell me how long it takes to convert for you

Re: ConvertxtoDVD using 100% of CPU?????

Hi, SaM*T - I just converted over a 712mb file...and it took somewhere betwen 3 and 4 hours. I'm new at using this program so I'm not sure if that's normal. How about yours?

I'll mess around with the conversion speed and see if that helps...thanks...

Re: ConvertxtoDVD using 100% of CPU?????

Hi there,

Video conversion is very CPU intensive.

When I want to convert in the background and use my PC, I set the conversion priority to "Idle".

When I want to convert, and walk away, sometimes I'll set it to "Higher".

I personnaly not suggest to use "Highest or Time Critical", since this will give probably make your PC so slow (Even real fast machines) it will look hung !

I have a P4 @ 3.2 Ghz and it takes me about 1 hours an average movie.

CPU Speed and free memory makes a big difference.

I have 1.5 Gig of Ram (DDR2 @ 533 Mhz).

Re: ConvertxtoDVD using 100% of CPU?????

Just tried - my AMD 3400+ (single core) with 2GB ram usually converts between 1.6-2.2x.
So normal 90 minutes movie converts in 40-50 minutes here.

But no use to try to do anything else with your system when speed is needed - conversion needs CPU and it uses all it can get.
