@pipemanid,are these mail in rebates or online rebates?
Fine print always confuses me.

When I printed the rebate forms both were the same. Something is not quite correct.

Great, great news.
Being manufacturer's rebate I guess the next batch of media to arrive at stores will start at lower than today's regular price, and if we get store rebate or coupon, WOW, the days of the Shrink might be numbered (not near future, and not special cases, but WOW)
Also, some big sales of 2.4X clearance will be spectacular...

I went back and took a closer look and you're right. It might be worth questioning Amazon or Verbatim. I don't do rebates because of these
types of problems. It's not worth the time and hassle.

A lot of buzz around the web on this deal. General concensus is that only 1 rebate is applicable. Check it out before you buy. Even with 1 $8.00 rebate it's still not a bad deal.

Excellent question, wish I had an answer. If you look at the 2 rebates listed, they are the same form. They are shown on the rebate page as having two different time windows for purchase, and both require the ORIGINAL UPC.

Unless this is truely a misprint, I do not believe that either Amazon or Verb has intentions to scam.

It might just be that the computer system is generating the page from database, the computers are stupid, they do not take into account that both rebates are overlapping and each need ORIGINAL UPC

It doesn't say anything about only one rebate per address, so that would only be $14 after rebate. $4.66 per disc is alot better than the $7 per disc I payed for the 10 I bought a couple of months ago. I ordered two packs so I could get free shipping. The Verbatim discs can also be burned at 6X, 4X with the LiteOn drives.

The rebates are the same they just have different dates. I really doubt it will work for two reasons:

1. Both rebates say they require the original UPC
2. Both rebates say "Not valid with other other Verbatim mail-in offers"

If you look carefully, you'll see that the rebate image is the same image, they did not put a new image for the second rebate, that second one might have same or different terms. Confusing

In addition, both rebate offer numbers (05-90130) are the same on both forms. There is a phone number to call for questions. 1-866-856-3964

I'm curious - other than for backing up DL DVD-Video discs, has anyone found any other practical use for DL media? I only burn data and I can't see any advantages to using DL media for my purposes, considering price and write speed differences.

I am going to wait until the price (without rebates ) is about 6 bucks a pack for 3 discs. I have yet to see a good reason for buying them anyway.

OT, but how's the quality of DL discs compared to SL discs? Comparable scans? For non-data mode discs, I'd think PIE/PIF quality would be that much more important.

I contacted Amazon and they finally got back to me. It is only ONE rebate. The other is a mistake. So to me it is still too high for now.

I put 3 of these 3-packs in my Amazon shopping cart this morning, waiting to see if there really is a double rebate. I just read here that there is only one rebate. No surprise. It's still the best price I've seen, so I went back this afternoon to complete the purchase. I got a meesage that these have been removed from my cart because they are no longer sold by this seller. I went back to the item description, and where it said this morning they would ship within 24 hours, it now says:

Availability: This item is not stocked or has been discontinued.

You can't even buy these from Amazon with the single rebate, or even at full price for that matter, right now.

I see that it ships from Office Depot now, for $27. I got my order in just in time at the $22 price, although it still shows an estimated ship date. Even if the discount is only $8 per pack, that's still around $4.70 per disc.

I did this offer.
Apparantly, they screwed me.

I got a postcard saying it was invalid because.

My purchase was not made within the dates specified.
IT WAS. It was made on the last valid date.

The store was not participating in the rebate.
I got the rebate form from Amazon, and it has Amazon.com on it, and I
bought from Amazon.com

The postmark date was after the last valid postmark date.
The last valid postmark date was April 3oth.
I mailed it April 7th.
I got my rejection postcard on May 2nd.

If my postmark date was indeed AFTER april 30th, making it invalid, then:
It must have been postmarked either May 1st or May 2nd. If it were
postmarked May 3rd or later, I would not have gotten my rejection notice
yet, as we have not currently mastered TIME TRAVEL.

So, my postmark date possibilities are May 1st or May 2nd. May 1st was a
Sunday.

So, May 2nd. Can someone please explain to me how my submission was
postmarked, mailed from California to Florida, REJECTED, and a notice of that
rejection mailed back from Florida to California, and received, ALL IN ONE
DAY?

I have sent them an e-mail, and I will be resubmitting my claim.

Does anyone have a copy of the rebate form? I have found several online, but they are for different sites or dates. The copy I have it kind of faded, and I'd like to send in a more legible copy for my resubmission.

Has anyone else's submission been rejected for bogus reasons?

I'm prepared to contact the Better Business Bureau. This is how rebates work - bait and screw. About 75% of the rebates I have dealt with have either been late, or outright not sent. I have ALWAYS gotten my rebates, however, through complaints and the Better Business Bureau.

Here is a copy of the letter I sent them:

I recieved a postcard saying my rebate submission was invalid for the following reasons:

My purchased was not made within the required dates for the rebate.
However, it was made within the required dates, and I can prove it. The purchase date was shown on the forms and receipts I sent in initially, and I have copies.

The store where the product was purchased from is not participating in this rebate program.

I was initially directed ot the rebate form through amazon.com, where I made my purchase. Again, this is not an error on my part. Amazon.com was participating in the rebate offer.

The postmark date on your rebate submission was after the deadline for this rebate.
The deadline was 4/30/2005.
This is impossible. If my submission was postmarked AFTER that date, the earliest it could have been postmarked would be monday, may 2nd. I recieved the postcard saying my submissionw as invalid ON monday, may 2nd. I initially mailed my submission on thursday, april 7th.

I have a screenshot showing my order was placed on the last valid day (march 31st). And I can access my amazon.com account records to verify the screenshot has not been altered.

I have a copy of the rebate form, with Amazon.com on it, proving that amazon was indeed participating in the rebate.

The form also shows the final date for postmarking (4/30/2005).
I have proved that it is impossible for me to have mailed my submission past that date.
I am sedning this e-mail on may 3rd. I received the postcard on may 2nd. There was no mail on may first (a sunday) and saturday, april 30th was the postmark-by date.
If my submission was postmakred AFTER april 30th, as you claim it was, then it could have been postmarked NO EARLIER than may 2nd (may 1st was a sunday). I received the postcard saying my submission was invalid on may 2nd. How could my submission be mailed from california to florida, be processed, and a postcard be mailed back to me, and travel from florida to california, all in one day? Even in two days (if you don't believe I received the postcard yesterday) that is not possible with standard mail.

I have copies of everything, including the UPC.

I would like to know what sort of errors could have caused all three of these INCORRECT reasons my rebate could not be processed. I will resubmit my rebate claim, along with a copy of this e-mail.

If I do not receive my rebate, for any reason, I will contact the better business bureau.
-Brian S.
