why do i feel my basic mathmatic skills are being questioned? i double checked the prices, before and after and im positive i only got the CS10 discount.( i even cleared cookies to make sure)

| Yo- The reason that I am asking is that when stud monkey gave me the referral email and I clicked on the link it took me directly to a price box that was discounted 10% (though I did not know that at that time) - I bought 200 - went to the checkout - put in my code and it discounted it another 10%- Where I got mad (and it was a fault of their software) was that at the confirmation page - it then showed ANOTHER 10% referral discount- then when I got to the final tally - after the credit card had been charged it reflected a higher price (by 10%) than the confirming page did - and that is what I got hot about (even though it turned out that they were essentially correct)- What was confusing to me was that the referral email (that they generate at the referrers request) does not say anywhere about the discount being taken up front - and your discount should have been taken up front - if - you used the link in studmonkeys referral email - if infact you did not use that link - then you would only get the 10% off using the code - and they make sure by having you forward the referral email and their confirming email (as I had to do)- Also - the fact remains - as demonstrated by the other posters - that if this proceedure is followed - they indeed did get their discounts both for the referral and the code - the only caution I am giving you - is that they do check - and to prepare you for what you might be facing when you do call them- It is interesting (just looked at the copy of the email sent to me by studmonkey) that they say that you can take an additional 10% off of the referral discount using the discount code (pm me with a email addy and I will forward a copy to you)- Mike

Hey bigmike7, they dont say that you can take an additonal 10% off on top of the referal, I type that in so people will know that they can do that. Shop4tech doesnt send out the referals with that "extra bonus" I do it...
- #33
I found that little "bug" one day while messing around where you can put both in the referal and the 10% code. I sure wasnt gonna call and tell them that they mess up...LOL

It is still very good media - just don't try and burn it with a BenQ 1640 (at least until they fix the 4x -R flaw) Mike

I have both the benq 1640 and benq 1625 so I think I should be ok...Will they not burn faster then 4x with the benq1640 with overspeeding???

The 1640 firmwares do not currently support the Taiyo Yuden 4x TYG01's- I have personaly been able to only burn the first one that I tried - then three in a row would not burn at all - and it has been reported all over these forums that the 1640 won't support these burns - so I gave up trying - and now burn the remaining 45 or so on my Lite-On 1693s - which does a very good burning job with these- Mike

Thanks Studmonkey. I got the 8x TY last Friday, since I got tired of waiting for them to stock the 4x. I should have ordered the 4x several months ago when I first saw your post. I'm actually relieved. I've read a lot of horror stories about shop4tech. I decided to risk it since a lot of people here happily order from them. The 8x stuff burns great. I've searched on the web, and noticed TY doesn't make dvd in + or - rw. Is it because they're not as archival as hdd?
- #43
My guess is that it has to do with exacting standards. The -RW and +RW formats as a whole aren't anywhere near as compatible as +R/-R. TY could want to avoid it for the simple fact that they don't want to put their name on anything that won't produce a given success/compatibility rate. There isn't any D/L TY media either.
