Thanks for the heads-up. I've been waiting for these to show up with free shipping.

ON EDIT: For those unfamiliar with this drive, this is the SATA version of the Liteon 20A3P. "Wind" (from Liteon) has released a test firmware for this drive, please see the thread in the Liteon forum, the title is something like "Test Firmware for 20A3P".

I've been looking high and low for the SATA version of the 20A3, but still no luck since I can't use black.

This drive uses the same firmware after crossflashing of course. Tempting............

That depends on what you mean. The IDE and SATA versions use different firmware, but "Wind" has released test firmware for the SATA version of the 20A3, and I believe that will work. I "know" (from first hand experience) Wind's test firmware for the 20A3P will cross-flash directly to the Nec 7190A. The ".exe" file as released by Wind is all you need, it will allow you to upgrade the firmware on the Nec. I "believe" the same is true for the 7190S.

Liteon 20A3P == Nec 7190A (IDE)
Liteon 20A3S == Nec 7190S (SATA)

Face plates are designed to pop off. Pick your required color of spray paint. Just remember the simply rule to painting .... two thin coats is better than one thick coat. I've painted my last burner ..... looks like factory after it's installed.

Thanks for the heads up doom 5, I'm in for 1 even though I wanted it in beige. I will not paint it but if anybody out there knows where I can get a Sony or a Liteon faceplate that will fit in beige please let me know. The led is in a different place than all the previous models so they will not work. I have an extra beige faceplate for a Samsung 203B that I would be willing to trade and I know they are hard to come by as well.

So you're saying if I have a 7190s and get the test firmware .exe from Wind, that's all I need to flash it to a 20a3s? No need to use LtnFW, omnipatcher and the like? Sorry if it sounds like a dumb, obvious question, but I haven't flashed a drive in a while yet, so I want to be sure before I do anything.

I can now state with certainty that it does indeed work. I purchased one of these 7190S with free shipping from Newegg, and last night I installed it and immediately flashed it to a 20A3S using only the .exe file from Wind. After flashing, I set parameters on the drive with Smartburn, and burned a disc, successfully.
