the spec doesn't look right?? if it is .10 version then it suppose to have 16meg of cache and perpendicular recording
and screw TD rebates, I hate shopping there. Just wait for frys to have a sale, $109 shipped, no rebates to worry

BAD DEAL

Some of these Seagate drives are in reality Maxtor these days since Seagate now owns Maxtor.

Maxtor tech is gone. Maxtor branded drives are Seagate technology with limited cache.

TCAS,

A close family member of mine is a Senior Testing Engineer with EMC and works very closely with Seagate on providing drive for Symmetrix arrays... according to his conversations with Seagate engineers, all new Maxtor drives are really Seagate technology with reduced cache. For the time being, 7200.9 drive technology.

Anandtech news stated that Seagate will continue use Maxtor brand as a value line of HDD and it will carry 3 yrs warranty. Under Seagate brand, the drives are premium line and carry 5 yrs warranty

This is great information to know, I have had great results with my 3 Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB drives and would buy another (500GB) but only if it was a 7200.10 with perpendicular recording.
