Great news if it is a good drive. I wonder if this 202B is the North American varient of the much discussed 203B -- and whether it is immune from the lead-in error that has plagued many of the previous generation sammys?

You and me both ghetocowboy. I had a post running looking for a PATA burner, received excellent suggestion, one of them being the SH-S203B ... but SATA only. Before I could make a decision, wife's vehicle went down and squashed cash flow. If the SH-202B (available in both Sata and Pata) has same performance, I'll try squeezing it in next month's budget.

PATA. It might have newer firmware as I have not seen a 20X PATA Samsung yet.

if I have to choose, has to be SATA because I dont have any more IDE controllers available. And I do not want to add another controllers because I dont want my cmos to be loaded with all controllers and every time the system boots, it loads the bios of all the controllers including the built in the motherboard and added in controllers. This is the reason why I took out my plextor and my TEAC scsi cd burner drives because takes so long to boot when it detects the scsi controller and it scans for the drives.

Thats good, then we can benchmark each others drives. I am really not expecting too much from this drive, I liked the Samsung SH182D and M drives, and I think they have a firmware edge, so this drive might just be good considering the results I have seen from the 203.

Looks like you have to pay $4.99 shipping for that. I bought the SATA version yesterday and had to pay $4.99 shipping, however, I contacted Newegg today and they gracefully credited $4.99 back to my credit card.

I have wasted more than 4.99 in my life, free shipping is always better but I wanted to try the drive.

it can scan for quality, but not a good scanner and thus not so accurate

No more free shipping

Good News.
Great news!

Does it include software? (I know it doesn't mention or show such but a number of Samsung OEM burners from Newegg come bundled with Nero 6/7 anyway.)
