Can anyone recommend a newer drive for burning these?

My Benqs (1640 and 1650) and Liteon 160P6S don't seem to like these discs at all.

The Pioneer 117D is probably your best IDE bet for replacing one of those at this time-eh

Sorry bigmike7, but have to agree with negritude here . Of the drives in my sig, DH20A4P and AD-7200A were easily the best for burning Falcon DVD+R DL's at 8X after more than a year of burning with these discs.

Take a look here http://club.cdfreaks.com/f33/falcon-...23/index2.html, posts 66 and 82, as well as many other scans in that thread, for comparison of Pio vs Optiarc burns with these. The 7200 is a better choice with this particular disc . Burned many more w/ the 115D, and it never could compete with the AD-7200A on these Falcon DL's.

Decent price on a black AD-7200A or AD-7201A from a place that isn't likely to send you a 7220 instead of a 7200 as an "upgrade"(widespread selling scam, got burned by a few sellers pulling that stunt, be careful who you buy from.) http://www.provantage.com/sony-ad-7201a-ob~4SNYC9RR.htm

Just went to order some more Falcons, and it appears I missed my chance. Darn! Oh well, you snooze, you lose .

That is their MID but they are not made by RICOHJPN they are made by FTI in Dubai U.A.E. A lot of members have had very good burns with these similar to Verbatim D/L.

You're welcome . I'ts a match made in heaven. When you get bored with too many good burns in a row, try burning one at 12X, and discover just how much this drive loves these discs .

This is very mediocre media, all the hype that it is going to replace TY and Verb on quality is pure B.S.

They're back on sale at: www.cddimensions.com

$44 incl. shipping for a 50 cakebox. Just another source to include to the one above.

I currently use the Samsung SH-S223F 22X DVD Burner SATA - Black OEM and it works great! No Coasters yet! No hiccups, etc. I got mine at Newegg for $24.99 plus shipping. Newegg no longer sells it as they updated the product line. It does not support Lightscribe, but then I have no use for Lightscribe. I prefer to use my Epson R280 printer instead.
