Doesn't seem very impressive even for free sadly. I just use MPC-HC.

There are a lot of DVDFab users here . I thought some might want it for free.
It will probably be the most use to these wanting to play blu ray discs, ,iso's , or folders.
I also have & use MPC-HC . MPC-HC won't play files from my external hard drive & I need to test if DVDFab player will. VLC works for that.

I hope its improved since my test of the first edition. It couldn't play high action scenes straight from the disc at all. I may download it and see if they have fixed this issue.

I noticed that myself, it must be the version that had issues with registering

I have a bought version at home on my computer there,it did register, I thought I would put this one on my computer here at work to play with.

Is registration different from activation? I uninstalled, then reinstalled and this time I got a screen from GiveawayoftheDay saying that the program was activated. But starting the program up, I still get the message saying I have 30 days to register.

This thing is screwed up.

Same for me on the registration except nothing crashed.
I've got several programs from giveawayoftheday & this is one of the few I've had a problem registering .
@ Kerry56 ,The activation screen & an opening of the giveawayoftheday web page is what happens on all their giveaways. So it shouldn't have any effect on this one.
It's just DVDFab doesn't have their ducks in a row for the registration to accept the e-mail & password . Most of the time when this happens people complain on the giveaway site & it gets fixed . I will be posting a complaint there.

I should have tested it before posting it here at club.myce but since it is time limited I wanted to give as much time as possible .

I will be testing to see if the registration starts working .
I just hate to post something like this & have it not register .
I prefer not to give forum members a PITA.

Overall I've gotten some very good software from giveaway & had few problems with installing & registering any that required that.

^If you have AnyDVD HD running in the background, you don't need updates for encryption. The basic player would be fine.

Unfortunately, it looks like the menu access will disappear in 30 days because of DVDFab's complete incompetence in setting up a giveaway.

Yes while that may be true however there was good improvements after that release.

@ SJ , That's the way almost all the giveaway software is with that disclaimer.
However that is not always the case. Many authors/publishers will give some support if asked. Of course some don't but it never hurts to try.
About a year or so ago they gaveaway a year subscription to DVDFab copy .
It updated for that trial period.

IMO it's bad advertising to giveaway a bad version.
It doesn't have to be the latest but it should work well .

I agree Cholla. They give these versions away to stir up interest in their products. By completely fubaring the giveaway, they are giving themselves a black eye here. And that is not something they can afford to do.

1.0.1.5 isn't that the latest version ?

Looks like it is
It was the 1.0.1.1 that was buggy, the problem must have come back in this version.
I will try it when I get home and update my paid copy

When I stated it was the version with the registration issue I was wrong, I had downloaded the v1.0.1.1 but never installed it and when I went to install this download package I opened the wrong one

According to the Fab forum this version should be really good, so i am not sure on the registration problem with the giveaway.
