I got this in my email for microcenter for black Friday. I assume its in store only.

OK now i'm pissed! i just looked up some specs on the laptops i thought i wanted..but..i need a parallel port to run my plasma cam.....and neither one of the great deals has one...is there like USB to Parallel cable or something???

ok i googled and yes there is!!! ok its on ....don't get in my way...i'm gonna be cold and have cash......!!!

Welp, I'm off to go stand in line for a few hours. Hopefully I'll be one of the few, the proud, the lucky and get the moichendize I want.

Got some of those Dynex DVD-R from BestBuy. Went to test 'em out and my LiteOn DVDRW 165H6S doesn't even acknowledge its existence.

I was able to get everything i went after at Staples Me and my Son got in line about 4:45am they handed out vouchers at 5:00am.1 Samsung 20" widescreen monitor $179.98,1Western Digital 400GB My Book external hard drive $99.98,2 Maxtor 200GB internal hard drives $19.98 each,2 SanDisk 1GB USB flash drives$7.98 each ,2 I/O Magic dvd burners $19.98 each.All of these had easy rebates for various amounts but ive never had a problem with Staples easy rebates.

The I/O Magic dvd burners 1 box had black sticker that said black face plate this was an LG model GSA-H10N.The other box had no sticker it was a Ben-Q DW1670 with beige face plate.Both of these were in clear wrap when i pushed the bottom of the box in.

I didn't really want to fight the lines for the really hot deals. I got to biglots 15 minutes before they opened and managed to get a power wheels jeep for 100$, then off to staples to get a wireless router for 20$ after rebate (it was a 2 day sale but still 30 - 10 easy = 20$, normally 80$). I also got a ups at staples for 20$ (no rebates, normally 60$). That one I just happened to see. I figured if the router was gone, oh well, I didn't have to wait a few hours in line but they still had some.

Well I spent 5 bucks on those Dynex DVD-Rs and they blow on both my PX-716A and BenQ 1650. Was worth the shot. I hope that somebody has some luck with these. On the plus side I did get the sweet Samsung 931BW 19" widescreen for $129 and MIP3 DVD $7.99

I am still delirious from the lack of sleep. Orlando BB was a trip and I was a first timer for the Black Friday madness. Anybody want 98 dvd-r's for 20 bucks on E-bay? Just kidding!

The I/O Magic i ended up with at Staples is a BenQ DQ-60. Was hoping for something else.

Well, since Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving and the Pilgrims landed in the U.S., it's probably unique to us. Though, I suspect that any predominately Christian, capitalist nation who give gifts on Christmas has probably caught on to the bonanza and has something similiar.

What was the media code on yours?

I bought some of the Dynex DVD-Rs, I wonder what media code they are. I'm not currently in a place where I've got a DVD burner in order to check. 16x made in China, hmm...

Nero CD-DVD Speed told me they were Verbatim MCC 03RG20. The disc core is imprinted with 02C106 - 10 - 1919:42 if that's helpful.

Regardless, I haven't gotten a good burn off of them yet.

well my black friday was a bust....i was in line by 2:30 at best buy ..only to find out people had been there since 4 pm on Thanksgiving...so the line was already behind the building...I kept the faith thinking we will have to ask for the UNADVERTISED specials....but NO the loud mouth managers went through the line...Laptop 250!! and of course the first 18 in line got them.....the it was a mad dash to circuit city to stand in line for a 299 lappie 99 if you sign up for Vonage......but they were gone before i got there.......(now its like 4 am...so i head over to staples...not many people there and oh yeah they open at 6 am!! ) i find out who all in front of me was there for lappies..and its cool if there was 10 ..I'd score!....there were to guys from India behind me...and when they opened the door they pushed me to the side..to run for the laptops...i grabbed them both by the coat and said EXCUSE me i was in line ahead of you don't make me get mad cause then ....I will call INS ..!!! they pushed their way to the front of the lap top line.....the manager said there was only 7 !!!!! lap tops...i told him ...sell one to one of those guys from India..and I promise you there will be blood shed.....the rude bastards pushed me out of the way and a few others as well...they got escorted out..!! (cheers) then this one BIIIGGG guy said dang girl your scrawny but you can take care of business...lmao....i was like no i really wanted a lappie..but like i said....had there been 10 i would have got one...
now i got a 50 pk of DVD-R don't know if they are worth anything or not but for 2.98 you just gotta try...and i got 3 1GB Zip drives....for 7.98 a piece so i saved like 150 bucks!!

Just woke up. Got most of what I wanted this morning, but Best Buy had this stupid system where they divided people up into 3 different lines according to what they wanted to get. You were supposed to go through one line for TV's, another for computer related items and yet another for other stuff. I pitched a fit. I told them I wasn't about to go back outside and wait in a line 450 people long (actual count) when I had already been in line since 10:00 P.M. the night before. Anyway one of the employees went over and got the items I wanted. What a pain in the arse. That's a broken system if there ever was one.

There were a bunch of people trying to cut in line at the last minute and either the best buy employees or the cop told them to go to the back of the line or get off the property.

All of the low cost computers & laptops were gone before they got to me. I was about #93 in line. They came up with a couple of substitutes but the idiots started handing out the tickets at the beginning of the line instead of starting where they ran out of the advertised deals.

Anyway, I got the following:
1 Westinghouse 32" LCD TV for $480
1 Samsung 19" wide screen LCD monitor for $130
1 Sandisk 1 GB MP3 player for $35
2 Canon MP160 printer/scanner/copiers for $20 each
2 100-packs of 16x Dynex DVD-R made in China

Almost left the Dynex at the cash register since they were made in China. Read a few of the posts here and they were stating MCC dye so I just opened up a pack and sure enough MCC so I guess I'll keep 'em. They smell great! The font on the top of the cake box is sans serif. There is a small recycle triangle and no other markings. The foam spacers were small round ones and the base of the cake box is slightly ribbed (for her pleasure!). On the hub are the numbers 722M and on the opposite side is DVD-R.

If these MCC 03RG20 are Made in China is it safe to say they are a faked media code???

Good question. I would guess so.

MIC media tend to use fake MID like TY or MCC , just to get compatibility with DVD RW drives , dye and other components of discs can vary alot from decent to realy crap .
I would never buy such crap even for free

My BF experience is totally different cos I wasn't actually there in the USA , instead I was instructing a friend in NY and my brother in TN .
My brother wanted nothing after his PC from BB that he got months ago in Back To School sale .
My friend was dying for a lappy , I told him about BB's deals and he liked them and I told him to go there at 1.00 am tops , but he said : what the heck , it is raining badly and no one would be standing in the open in such weather , he went there at 4.30 am and there were literally 1000s of people standing in lines

He was sad and decided to get one in next sale in Christmas or something .
I saw some DVD movies on sale at BB for 4.99 each and I told him to get me some of these old but good titles and he bought me what I wanted

Does anybody know about any good lappy for sub 400 $ ?

I got the Compaq Laptop at Staples for 399.99 and I got a big surprise, it came with a free Vista upgrade. Only 60 gig HD but it got a AMD Turion 64 Processor and a DVD-RW. Also got the Samsung 20" Widescreen monitor for 179.00, its Digital and pretty good for 179.00USD. So I am about 600USD poorer but thats what money is for , right

Weird, I was going for the Samsung 20" monitor (205bw) but I didn't find one here at my local staples (I'm in Dallas, TX), not even in the BF ads. So I got a much....much......larger one: MAG 32" LCD TV for $499....

I'm assuming that the Dynex "MCC" is faked ID code... I've tried many different discs with various methods, in both my burners, with 2 different programs, and 2 different burning speeds.

So far I still have not to get an adequate burn, and my LiteOn still refused to recognize the blank disc.


Because I haven't yet learned my lesson, I also got a 50 pack spindle of Nexxtech DVD-R (made in Hong Kong) from Circuit City which were free after rebate. Nero says they're:
