mp3 -> ogg vorbis (many files)

do you know how i can convert most of my mp3s directly from mp3 tp ogg vorbis?

(i don't want do do MP3 -> WAV and WAV -> OGG for every file ... this would take ages ...)

HeadAC3he .23a can take MP3 as input, uses Vorbis 1.0, and has different compilations of libraries designed to work with it, each with different optimizations for your processor (SSE, SSE2, MMX, etc.). You can download the SSE version from the download section of www.doom9.net , or if you don't have an SSE processor, you can download it from the authors site at:

first there is an error and it doesn't find the vorbis.dll even than it is there...

Are you sure you got the right binaries for your processor? What error messege are you getting?

but i forgot to dl the dll which allows the use of dlls ...

but i have to put every file into the programm ...
i'm searching for a programm which can handle multible files and converts one after the other.
(i have more than 1000 Mp3s here .. i don't want to converty them manually )

If you're not aware of this : you're gonna transcode from one LOSSY format to another LOSSY format.

You're NOT gonna get better sound quality. You're NOT gonna maintain sound quality. You're gonna LOSE sound quality.


It's like converting from one JPEG to another JPEG - you make the picture look MUCH WORSE .

2. Reencoding a JPEG will give the same quality, if the same settings are used.

I always rant about it because I encounter people who don't know about it very often. And for me transcoding MP3s to OGGs is simply pointless, anyway. That's why I replied.


@2. Sorry - looks like you're right.

It does maintain quality. I haven't been doing such a test for a few years and looks like I had a crappy program that time. ACDSee works flawlessly.
