How do I backup MP3 songs from WMP 11?

Audio Discuss, How do I backup MP3 songs from WMP 11? at Software forum; I'm going to format my drive soon so I need to backup my MP3 songs from WMP 11. I know I can simply backup the My Music (location of my MP3s) directory but I also want to include the song ratings, album art and playlists. Any suggestions? Thanks

There's no built-in backup function in WMP 11

Use the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard. It should clone the WMP library info fine.

playlists are stored in My Music in My documents. album art is stored in the same folders as the audio tracks, so if your music in organised into folders by artist or by album then that is where the album art will be. don't know about ratings 'cos I don';t use them. ( NB In some cases the album art is acutally embedded in the music file, as an MP3 tag - google MP3 tags to learn more )

On the microsoft site it says:
"# Save media information and ratings to your media files. Perform the steps in the following procedure to save media information and star ratings to your media files.

1.
In Windows Media Player 10, click the Tools menu, and then click Options.
2.
Click the Library tab, select the Maintain my star ratings as global ratings in the media files check box.
When this check box is selected, the user ratings for your songs are saved in your media files rather than in your library database file. This process occurs in the background, so it may take some time before your ratings are saved to all of your media files.
The next step in this procedure ensures that your ratings (and any changes that you have made to other media information) are saved to your files immediately.
3.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Process media information now.

#
Back up your existing data. To use the Backup Utility in Windows XP, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Backup.
"
hope this helps?.... alternatively, you can go to Start>all programs>accessories>system tools>files and settings transfer wizard
this way should work.. but i havnt tested it yet.. found it on: http://www.iopus.com/guides/oe-backup.ht, its actually for backup of outlook express but im guessing it might work for wmp also?
