Excess Silence

Audio Discuss, Excess Silence at Software forum; Is there a way to cut off the excess silence at the end of my mp3s when I burn them to disc, as I already have a 2 second pause set between them. I sometimes end up with about a 4 second gap between tracks. I am burning my mp3s

    Thank You

I just use 0 sec gaps for MP3s so it's the same sound as the CD.

You properly just haven’t noticed the gaps, but you defiantly would, if you burned e.g. a live album from MP3 files, unless you use a program capable of dealing with it.

If the live CD is 0 sec to begin with but in that case no more silence would be added. It is the "gaps" that add the silence when you rip the disc...at least that's what I always assumed.

So if there is a 4 sec gap between Track 02 and Track 03 = both will have 2 sec extended on the end during the mp3 rip, to reproduce this exact sound when burning back is to use 0 sec. gap

It is a part of MP3 files’ nature to use some bytes for data storage in the end of the file. That’s what creates the gaps when you use them as source files for an audio cd, unless you use competent software of cause.
