Audio Discuss, DVD-A becomes more and more popular at Software forum; I purchased couple of days ago a DVD-A out of curiousity, to see how good the sound is. I have to recognize that is impressive. Now, I have a question: anybody knows if this type of DVD can be copied ? I would like to make a copy to play

Hi Kenwatch, and welcome to the forums.

There is an interesting thread about that in this same subforum:

Backing up DVD-Audio

(hint: use the search function. It is very useful. )

Regards,

Yes, I read that already. I do not want to back up the DVD-A. I just want to burn a simple CD audio to play it on a simple CD player. As far as I understand the process is far from beeing simple.
I would like to know if anybody did it and how. I would like to try it by myself.

Kenwatch

Well, if I am not wrong that link points to a guide about ripping audio from a DVD-Video, not from a DVD-A...

Ah, ok.

Ripping the high-resolution audio from DVD-A is a difficult task, but most probably your DVD-A has also a DVD-Video part with audio, albeit at lower resolution. Following the guide you should be able to rip that, at least.

Hope this helps,

ET

Is Total Recorder useful here? (While playing the sound on your computer, it should put a copy on your hard disk.)

Yeah, correct. DVD-A is still not that mainstream already.

Hi everybody,

I'm back. I did what you guys told me and I succeded. The only problem I had, all the songs are ripped in one single file, as a single wav file. I did it so:

1) Used DVD Decrypter to rip the dvd-a.
2) Took the sound file and split the songs with Sound Forge (great software !)
3) Burned the songs on a CD with Nero.

Once again, thank you for your advices.
