Announcing Xpert tools: the perfect rip.

Xpert tools is a set of 3 proggies that lets you precisely extract
all relevant content from Audio CDs, Enhanced CDs and CD+Gs.
You can use such content to burn 1 to 1 copies or keep it
on your hard disk as WAV or MP3 songs.

CDTool: This special version of Truman's CDReader features C2 error reporting
(so you always know wether your rip was flawless or your disc is defective)
and deinterleaved and error corrected subchannel retrieving
right from your hardware (no special software needed).

CDGTool: This commandline soft converts a deinterleaved and corrected reading
to popular *.SUB file, so you can burn perfect subchannels (no random errors) on CloneCD.

WAVTool: Precision tool that uses your *.SUB file to divide your *.IMG extraction into exact tracks and gaps.

In this guide, our objective is to determine if an Audio CD or CD+G presents C2 errors.
Launch CDTool and press [CD To Image], then select a drive and insert your disc...
Ready? press [From TOC], [Make Image] and wait.

When CDTool is done, you'll see a file called CD.C2, open it with your favorite hex editor
and look for non-zero values (In WinHex go to Search, Find Hex Values, enter !00 and press OK).
You should see the next window if your disc is in good shape:

If your hex editor found at least one value different than zero,
it means your CD is not in good shape and you should clean, polish,
up to resurface it so it give a flawless rip.

To C2 scan an Enhanced CD you must apply the above process
right after making sure your drive sees only the first session of the disc
(in PlexTools select the drive, go to Advanced Drive Settings and check Enable Single Session).

Launch CloneCD, push Read to Image file button,
select drive and click on Settings...

Make sure Allow reading of Subchannel Data from Audio Tracks is checked,
press the OK button, insert disc and then press Next >.

Select Multimedia Audio CD profile, click Next >,
specify path and target and press OK.

After CloneCD has finished the reading, apply the process on guide #1
overwriting CCD's IMG file. Now launch CDGTool, it will overwrite CCD's SUB file,
a commandline window appears showing among other info, the number of Q subcode errors,
say yes to perform auto correction on output file and yes
to include checking for Q CRC 1-bit corruption.

As you can see, the above screenshot lists
Total no. of Q subcode auto corrected
and Total no. of Q subcode errors left
Say yes to perform Q suggestions...

As you can see in the above screenshot,
CDGTool identifies corrupted Q subcode entries
based on CRC calculations,
this function allows user to fix them
by entering proper value at corresponding offset.
Last but not least, P subcode auto correction.

Done! IMG, SUB and CCD ready to burn.

Launch CloneCD, push the Write from ImageFile button,
select the CCD file and press Next >.

Select Multimedia Audio CD profile and press OK, the burning process starts, wait and pick your 1 to 1 copy.

First, make sure your drive sees the last session of your disc
(see steps 1 to 3 on post 6), then apply the steps on posts 7 to 9
so you get CCD, IMG and SUB files, follow Xpert tools Guide #2,
taking care not to overwrite the IMG.

Start CDGTool and do steps on posts 10 to 12 taking care
not to overwrite the SUB file.

Use your hex editor to copy files CD.IMG and CD.SUB
and paste them on the Image and sub files of CloneCD.
Burn following steps of posts 13 and 14.

Once you extracted IMG and SUB files from a given Audio CD, Enhanced CD or CD+G,
you can use WAVTool to convert them to music tracks and gaps.

You only need to specify the path for IMG and SUB files and press Go button,
wait a bit and done. WAVTool will name the tracks starting from 1.-
and place the gaps if that's the case.

the CD+G sub system, I hope you enjoy it.
