Make a dvd is, well, make a dvd , thats the one you require to use your +r disk. Make a cd is for VCD or SVCD which are low quality formats that can fit onto a cd-r. You can of course use "make a cd" and then burn this onto a dvd disk, but it wont take up much space, around 800mb, this kind of defeats the purpose of using dvd disks.
