| Hi! there all I have Nero 6.3.1.20 installed and when I burn CD's with my Lite-On 52327S re-writer, whether it be through the Express interface or the Classic interface I find that in the burn options section, all the write strategy options are available to change...ie. "TAO/DAO & Finalise disc" choices. With my new NEC 3500 DVDwriter the same thing happens when I want to burn CD's however when I choose to burn DVD's, the write strategy options section is completely 'greyed' out. If I choose the multisession radio button, the 'greyed' out Finalize disc option becomes 'un-ticked' though remains 'greyed' out. I assume that the Nero software must interface differently with the various CD/DVD writer's somehow. I suppose this makes sense. However when I choose the multi-session radio button for DVD's why DOESN'T the 'greyed' out DAO write option change to TAO?? I have managed to burn a multisession DVD-R without any problems in Nero so I assume that the DAO 'greyed' out option during multisession writing must be a NERO glitch. Is this the same for 'you guys' with your DVD writers or is this specific to NEC 3500 drives?? Thanks! pic.1 - multisession with correct TAO CD writing strategy pic.2 - multisession with weird DAO DVD writing strategy

| 158 reads and Not one person with a DVD burner is willing to just check their setting in Nero for me for confirmation, to tell me if this behaviour is normal or not??

| Hi! all I went checking around in the options screen of the Final Burn Settings window and noticed the Booktype settings were set to DVD-ROM by default even though I am not running any hacked f/w as of yet. After changing to Unmodified and OK'ing out of that screen I noticed that when I then chose multisession all the "Write Method" info. dissapeared, producing the same screen as dallshead's screen capture above:- ![]() From my observations it appears that just by opening & closing the Booktype settings screen without changing any settings produces these same results. I think this must be some bug with the Nero Xpress interface and the WinXP environment but who knows. I can't seem to reproduce this issue with the Nero Classic interface. Anyway here is my screen capture of the Burn screen when "Start multisession disc" is chosen in Classic mode:- Please post your screen capture for comparison!!!! ![]() In Nero's FAQ section at their site. In the How do I create a Multisession CD/DVD? section they have a good How 2 guide which has a screen capture of the Burn screen when "Start multisession disc" is chosen via Classic mode:- ![]() As you can see it seems to tally with my classic screen capture so I can only conclude that for some reason the people at Ahead Nero have decided to not allow the manual setting of TAO w.r.t. DVD burning and instead must preset to this, while curiously displaying a ghosted out DAO option. This makes no sense because with multisession CD writing you can plainly see that the TAO option is always displayed in some way during multisession writing:-

| Thanks for your help in aiding me with my findings...dallshead Looks like the absents of a TAO indication & DVD multisession writing in Nero was an oversight at Ahead's software developing stage.

| To my knowledge burning DVDs can only occur with DAO method and not TAO (which is only for CD recording). Its not a Nero related issue, but related to the DVD format.
