The feature that removes Cinavia from DVD movies is able to create DVDs with only the movie (no menus or extras are supported) and the database files currently only work on NTSC releases. So far the amount of database files for DVD movies is relative small compared to the Blu-ray list, but the good is news is that some database files work for both Blu-ray and DVD movies.

DVD database files are already available for the movies, 47 Ronin, The Boy Next Door, Wrath Of The Titans, Ouija, Kick-Ass 2, Dracula Untold, Endless Love, Roommate, Bad Teacher, Get On Up, Unbroken and Fifty Shades of Grey.

At the same time, DVD-Ranger also released new database files for several blockbuster movies such as, The Salt of the Earth, Merchants of Doubt, About Alex (Region 2)  and Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2.

How the Cinavia removal process of DVD-Ranger works remains a mystery. In order to remove Cinavia with CinEx HD, users are required to download a database from the DVD-Ranger website which contains a so called ‘first pass’.  According to the developers this first pass is the  first step in the process of Cinavia removal, which would take hours on a regular system. By using the database, the Cinavia removal is faster for the end user.
