We have a high quality video program we produced. It is in the form of an .avi file and runs 38 minutes. Using Nervision 2.1.2.0. We selected Highest quality (9716 kbits/s) (3.0 GB of 4.7 GB of disk space) and transcoded the file and burned to a DVD+R (4x). When we played the burned DVD, it played fine, but as the program progresses, we noticed the video image studdering until the audio was out of sync with the video. By the end of the program, the video and audio was out of sync by about 5 minutes.
We than changed the quality setting to Standard (5073 kbits/s) (1.81 GB of 4.7 GB). The burn was completed and the DVD played fine (video and audio in sync) the entire time. But the image quality was not as clear as we would have hoped. We figure that we could use the higher bit rate because there was plenty of space on the DVD.
Are we doing something wrong? We would like to have the highest quality as possible. Thanks in advance.
[Computer system = plenty of power: P4, 2.6Mhz, 3GB Ram, 300GB HD, XP]

try a burn with the smart encoding unchecked and see if that helps. I had a similar problem with TV programs I was trying to burn and the video would freeze up and the audio would continue then the video would start up and the audio would stutter until back in sync. burning with the smart encoding off fixed it.HTH. __________________

In 3.0.1.27, click on the "More" button, then "Default Video Options" (or "Video Options" if you've started a project). It's on the "General" tab. I don't which version introduced Smart Encoding.
