Nero Wave Editor

I've installed Nero 7.5.1.1 and it's mostly working O.K. except for the Equalizer in Wave Editor. I've had several responses from Nero saying they cannot reproduce my error on "their" system.

I've asked on another forum for assistance and got one reply confirming my problem also. I was wondering if some helpful souls here would load a tune into Nero Wave Editor and try and use the Equalizer found under the tools menu and let me know what you experience so I can bug the life out of Nero for feisting another buggy version on us

. Just because "they" can't reproduce the problems with their system everything in the world is rosie. I wish they would read some of these forums and fix the danged program once and for all. Ticks me off being an unpaid Beta Tester!

I will do that, but would you mind stating the exact error and what you do exactly to get it? Also, perhaps the type of file your are using would help.

Thanks Saltgrass....It's a simple check. Just load an MP3 file into Wave Editor. In the toolbar select tools and in the drop-down menu pick equalizer. When it opens, see if it fills the work area too much. I can't see the full application. There is no "X" to close. I have to hit the escape on my keyboard to close it out. I can use ANY other application in the tools menu and they work....nice little shoeboxes with X's, but equalizer blows to too large a size.

I get an Equalizer window I can size, but no x for closing.

Top part of window is the Frequency response graph, below that are adjustments for Center Frequencies-Gain Levels-Bandwidth-Low Shelf-High Shelf, and along the bottom a stop and play button with OK and cancel buttons on the lower right.

So far seems OK. All I might suggest is something is corrupted on your install.

I assume you have tried the tool with different MP3s since one could be bad and perhaps cause problems? Did you also try resizing it, or is that part broken?

If you are going to reinstall, make sure you run the clean tools for whatever version you have or did have installed, like if you ever used Nero 6, run one after you run the Nero 7 one.

i had the same px. believe it or not, i realized i was using a 800 x 600 res and realized that if i changed it to 1027 x 768 i would be able to access the + and - buttons at the bottom of the screen. mostly had problems accessing equalizer, but after changing my resolution i was able to access the bottom of the menu. No close button at the top because it is at the bottom of the screen; however if you are using 800 x 600 you are unable to see it.

I WAS using 1024 x 768, but have moved to try 1152 x 864. This fixes the problem somewhat as I can move the application high on the screen where I can see the OK and Close buttons. Unfortunately this resolution screws up all other apps I use by making fonts so small and my eyes are more comfortable with the "older" setting of 1024 x 768.

. I feel like Mr. Magoo! For one application within Nero, the nuisance isn't worth it and I'll use other apps for this. Nero lately seems to want to do all for everyone. If you follow various forums regarding Nero, folks have come to the consensus that it is Bloatware full of useless crap that 80% of the people don't want or can get free apps that do it better. They should go back to their core programs and dump Sipps, Photosnap etc. DO IT AND DO IT RIGHT!

I run my desktop at 1280x1024 and 85 Hz. If changing the resolution makes a difference, maybe you could look at your video driver and see if there are any updates for it.

When you could see the entire box, did you try resizing it to a smaller size that you though it should be? Maybe it would hold in the other resolution.

You don't run any type of magnifying routines like accessibility, do you?

I just lowered mine to 1024x768 and the window for the equalizer fit exactly on the screen with no overlap.

When I get the equalizer showing I cannot resize it. I try the usual side / corner to drag to size but all I get is the gold double-headed arrow. It won't resize. Also, if you'll try me another favour. When you open equalizer, under the view menu, open the level meter. A box called "Transport" opens in mine. If I move the box in any direction I get a diamond in the centre and pieces of a diamond around the periphery. Do you get this result? No, I don't run anything extra that should affect the view. The part that bugs me is that "every" other app works fine except the equalizer. You'd think if something internal was wonky that most apps would be screwed up, but they aren't. I run Adobe CS, Corel DRAW Graphics Suite 12, Sketch-Up CAD program and numerous programs with no problems at all. Nero equalizer be damned....I'll use Audacity instead. Easier and every bit as good if not better. Thanks a lot for your continuing assistance to work this bug out!

If I open Equalizer, I have no View menu available. I cannot select it on the main window, because I can access nothing but the Equalizer window.

If I open the view in the main window (without the Equalizer running), I can turn off the level meter, since it was already on, along with Spectrum analyzer and Edit History, I see no Transport dialogue. If I reselect the Level Meter, the bottom of the window stays almost blank until I click on the bottom of the box then it seems to come back.

I noticed under the view menu, there is a customize option. You might just try changing some of those to see if you can get back to normal.

I found this, maybe it would help resize the window. Basically a Shift+space

Thanks for your continuing assistance with this Saltgrass.

I posed this question on CDR Labs forum also and Craig (the Nero guy) got it to display the same as mine. He could get it to where, if he moved the box to the very top of the screen, he could see the OK and Close buttons. I got to that point by changing my screen resolution, but it should be better than that. I've noted your web page suggestion and will try that next. I also reported the "diamonds" to Craig and he has put a BUG report in to Nero.
I was probably unclear with my previous message regarding the "transport" box. When I open the level meter, my box has a heading of "transport" whatever that is. But, when I place my mouse over this box to move it around, my screen shows a 4-piece diamond in the center of the screen and four others at compass points on the screen. I'll chase this just for the satisfaction of bugging Nero the way they bug us Beta-testers!

Sorry we haven't gotten your install working. Did you check into your video driver update?

Otherwise, all I might think of suggesting would be perhaps make sure you have the latest Java, check for any software that might be blocking certain types of scripts, or popups.
