ok this is a fairly specific question but i hope someone out there can help me.
i have many dj sets (duration averaging 1hr) on my computer as mp3 files, to listen to them in the car i have split them into 5minute tracks to make it easier to navigate between songs. by doing this it makes a one or two second pause between tracks which is getting annoying. is it possible to burn them without this pause, like it is possible to burn a normal cd without pauses?
any help would be appreciated. thanks

The real question is can your car player play them without a pause. An MP3 CD is just data and there is no pause recorded. WinAmp, for instance, plays without a pause. My Kenwood POS car deck, however, adds a pause to even store bought 'normal' CDs. The other half's BlauPunkt doesn't.

Is there a list somewhere of all the drives that put the 2 sec on? I don't like the sound of that.

I know that when I go to replace my Kenwood I'll be going to Car Toys or BB and trying it out first. I don't like the pause on track change either.

wow i had no idea anyone else would have had the same problem.
my head unit is, JVC KD-SHX705. im not sure if it can support pause free mp3 discs, im assuming it cant because it has pauses. a normal cd it will play without pauses.
my next purchase i will test it out first as well, but this is one thing i just didnt think to check!

hi tony, this is common with nearly all mp3 player of any kind, what you are looking for is a player that can do gapless mp3 playback..
this happens because it wont start buffering the next track until its finished the first.

my friends year old sony head unit puts a pause between all songs of about 2 seconds.
3 of my pocket mp3 players do it too but my pda does support gapless audio which really is nice...

i dont know if there are any car head units that support gapless playack but you could always look at using an mp3 player plugged in as most new ipods are gapless and so are some others, i think cowan audio is too.
some car stereos now have adapters available to plug in and control the ipod too..

i too have many dj sets and understand how important it is to not have the gaps, it just doesnt blend.....

As I mentioned before, the wife's Blaupunkt is damn near gapless. It also 'auto rewinds' about 10 seconds when you shut the car off. (The song starts back up about 10 seconds before the point you shut it off at).
