Hi everyone, in dire need of advice

Just recently acquired my LG internal 16X Super Multi DVD/CD Rewriter; burning CD-R was ok but the problem lies in burning DVD-R, I tried burning a TDK DVD-R 4.7, using Nero (version 6.6.0.9) provided by the writer itself into a DVD-Video as well as data disc
Everything was fine till around 2%, the writer was flashing but the burning process could not go on till it gave the error message: "Invalid Block Address" and failed...

Below is my error log:

I only had Cyberlink PowerBackup and PowerDirector
and no other burning software installed

So what was the reason for invalid address for write?

Mine has the EXACT same error with the same model burner (LG GSA-4167B). I am trying to use Maxell/Office Depot DVD's. Are you saying that I need to go out and buy Verbatim DVD's so that I can burn anything?

Right in the system environment in the burner manual it says that Maxell is recommended for DVD-R. I used to have alcohol 120 and Daemon tools installed but not anymore.

Any other ideas?

Thanks

I also have the same issue with the same burner.

I bought an LG GSA-4167B and get the same error when trying to burn Imation Printable 8x DVD-R. These are identified as CMC MAG.AE1.

It stops at about 2% and gives the "invalid block address" error. I suspect it does not even start to burn any data on the DVD before it fails.

it happens when trying to burn at 8x as well as 4x.

I then upgraded the firmware to DL12 but this did not help, the same thing keeps happening.

When I insert these DVD's into a TOSHIBA ODD-DVD SD-R6372 or a TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-L532M (both laptop dvd burners with latest firmware) the discs are not recognised and the laptops freeze and become unresponsive until you eject the disc again.

At this stage I'm thinking these DVD-Rs are complete poop and I should get another brand. but if anyone has a way around this, then my $44 for the spindle won't be a waste.

LG will probably come out with another firmware update at some stage that will fix this problem.

cheers.

I used to think that was true also, and it seems to be for +Rs, but not for -Rs.

I am 100% certain that my BenQ 1640 supports TYG02, but this is from a Nero error log:
