It all depends on what you are trying to backup. If you are trying to back up the games without any emulation then the LiteOn is good for safedisc and Plextor is good for SecuRom. If you don't care about emulation then it wouldn't matter that much. I would stick with name brands though, like LiteOn, Pioneer, and Plextor.

for combo drives Toshiba is very good also
