If you want to use it on a different drive than what it is designed for you will have to wait for the codeguys to release a decrypted version or see if you can get someone with a 1213S to install it then extract the bin file and post it.

Liteon have been making it difficult - the codeguys patcher, at one time, was apparently able to defeat the compression/encoding, but now the only way is for somebody to load the firmware and then extract it from the drive.

If this is the 1213S flashed to DRU710A, force it back with an earlier "fixed" firmware, and then use the official update, or check the usual places for a binary rip.

Do you have 1213S you flashed to DRU-710A? Then go back to TS0C unscrambed and then update to TS0D.

An OmniPatcher friendly version of TS0D in now available from our site on the firmware page.

194 media codes compared to 187 for TS0C.

Remember that OP can now increase the read speed to 12x by enabling the "Increase reading speed" option.

Do a google search for "upx-ripper" this app will unpack the (illegally?)modified UPX compression that Liteon uses. I think this is what you were talking about in the above quote.

No recommended. The extracted file still cannot be used with OP even if it is exported as a bin file. Just use the one on my site now. It includes the exe and the bin file, unscrambled.

Very bad idea. The flasher is compressed and the firmware inside is scrambled, so if you uncompress the flasher and extract the firmware binary, you get a scrambled binary which will not work.

I don't think this firmware is either much newer or much better than TS0C. The reading behaviour is the same.

The date of flasher executable is 6 Aug, the internal date of the firmware is 19 July. So it's only 3 days newer than TS0C!! Why wait a month to release it?

Here are the internal dates of the firmware versions I have available:
Code:
TS08	15 June
TS09 3 June
TS0C	16 July
TS0D	19 July
According to this, TS09 is older than TS08. For comparison, the Sony Fw BY01 is dated 6 Aug and contains more media codes.

I'll try to compare the results of TS0D and BY01.

It took over 7 minutes for 12x writing with TS0D firmware. It took a little over one minute less to write the same files to write at 16x with BY01 firmware.

KProbe being done with 1213S + BY01. Both PI and PIF numbers are very high. YUDEN000T02 Fusion 4x DVD+R was used again.

I mixed up the dates for TS08 and TS09 (see this remark). TS09 is newer than TS08.

For some reason, I can't edit older posts - I would have preferred to correct the misinformation at the source.

Could you do a scan of that previous disc with the 1213S + BY01 in addtion to the TS0D scan you posted?

Thanks.

Sure. I just came back to post it.

Please understand that it takes too much time to scan each time and it's now allowed to edit each post after 30 minutes. I try to edit previous posts instead of adding another post. Scan with 812S@832S will follow and also 12x writing results with BY01 firmware. I haven't done any test with Nero CD-DVD Speed.

Same disc above read by SOHW-851S@832S VS0B. I said it was 812@832S by mistake. It's 851S flashed to VS0B.

Now 12x to YUDEN000T02 with BY01 firmware. It took 50 seconds to complete the lead-in and started writing track at 6.3x and 20% at 8.8x.

The slowdown between 3.6GB and 3.7GB was caused by Windows XP SP2 message to restart.

The DVD-Video disc I burned at 16x was played well in a Toshiba DVD player till about the first 30 minutes and with random selections, but stopped at 31:56. Keep in mind that these media are nearly as cheap as Princo 4x DVD-R, sometimes actually cheaper than Princo, cheaper than BeAll.

The Nero CD-DVD Speed test was done in 5:57. KProbe reading got some errors which I saved but I'm not sure whether it suddenly stopped scanning at about 70-80% range so I switched to Nero CD-DVD Speed transfer rate test.

Nero CDSpeed v3.21

The "Type" in the first two CD Speed graphs means Disc Type. The last one shows Book Type as opposed to Disc Type. Since the 1213S was flashed to write DVD+RW including DVD+R SL and DVD+R DL media with DVD-ROM booktype value, Nero CD Speed 3.21 shows it as DVD-ROM instead of DVD+R.
