Finally got my new PC built. Windows 7 64-bit...nothing at all installed....the utility you sent me still did not work. I think willmore's guess is right that you're utilities will not work with AHCI mode.Quote:Basically, the drive is recognized by my PLSCSI drivers, but when I try to send a CDB to the drive, it fails.

I posted a reply to wilmore a few weeks ago when he said(elsewhere) that he couldn't jitter scan as well as interupt a burn with his win 7 x64 in AHCI mode - well I replied(http://club.myce.com/f44/cant-jitter...nstall-304552/) and said I had no trouble with jitter or burning, but I have my LiteOn's running off a sata controller - so that apparently makes all the difference - I have no trouble either with using the utility - I am running win 7 x64 with an Asus P6T WS PRO mobo - see the thread I refer to for some ideas on sata controllers - i.e, the silicon image 3114 (a 4port chip) will not work under win 7 x64 - even though there are drivers for it - the 3124 does work, but the support isn't perfect - the 3512 and 3132 (both two port, one a PCIe - other a PCI) work well. Hope this helps you in some way...Quote:Finally got my new PC built. Windows 7 64-bit...nothing at all installed....the utility you sent me still did not work. Unfortunately, it doesn't help me. My original problem was on my Dell XPS Gen 4 system with a Intel 975XE (?) chipset with a SATA drive. My new system is based on a Gigabyte PA-X58A-UD3R with an Intel X58 chipset and SATA drive.
I didn't download any gee-whiz SATA drivers from Intel, though. Just using the ones that came with Windows 7. -

Oh, this problem is SOOOOOOOOO solved!
Evidently the solution *was* to use Intel gee-whiz drivers. Once I went to Intel's site and installed the Intel RST (Rapid Storage Technology) drivers all of C0deKing's utilities recognized my IHAS-424-08. -

My solution, like you suggest, was to move all of my ODs to a different SATA controller. In my case it was a SiL 3124 and they work great there. Actually, they work a little *too* good. CDSpeed (most recent) does all kinds of annoying things. It asks what kind of disc I've inserted *all the time*. Plus, it's very sensitive to ejecting or inserting the tray *for drives that CDSpeed isn't even using*. Burn on one drive and close the tray on another an the burn gets ruined. CDSpeed goes nuts and never exits. It, sometimes, takes a reboot to fix this condition. Nice software, Eric.Quote:I posted a reply to wilmore a few weeks ago when he said(elsewhere) that he couldn't jitter scan as well as interupt a burn with his win 7 x64 in AHCI mode - well I replied(http://club.myce.com/f44/cant-jitter...nstall-304552/) and said I had no trouble with jitter or burning, but I have my LiteOn's running off a sata controller - so that apparently makes all the difference - I have no trouble either with using the utility - I am running win 7 x64 with an Asus P6T WS PRO mobo - see the thread I refer to for some ideas on sata controllers - i.e, the silicon image 3114 (a 4port chip) will not work under win 7 x64 - even though there are drivers for it - the 3124 does work, but the support isn't perfect - the 3512 and 3132 (both two port, one a PCIe - other a PCI) work well. Sorry to hear you are still having troubles with the issue of opening / closing of other drives not involved in your burning / scanning - I had issues with the 3124 not showing up in my MOBO's POST - and some other minor / major troubles with using AnydvdHD, and hot swapping (I was using a 4 eSata port Norco board). This issue you have with the opening of another drive tray is strange - this was also happening with your rig when you had the OD's hooked up straight to Sata ports on your MOBO - right?? I really can't understand what could be causing that trouble. If you revert to IDE - I think you might have the same trouble - I'm guessing it has to do with your MOBO / BIOS. If you did change back to IDE - I understand you may have to reinstall your OS - I had my BIOS reset itself to 'default' settings once when 'overclocking' failed during boot - this happens even if there is no 'overclocking' and there is certain POST errors during boot w/ASUS MOBO's. Anyway - my OS did work with the IDE setting until I changed it back - the OD all reinstalled their drivers - and viola - no reinstallation necessary - -Boot drive worked also. You might try it just to see if it is AHCI related...

You only need to run it once and set the options you want. The drive will store the options, even if powered off. __________________
