may be i said it wrong, but i'm not mean bitsetting on DVD-R. i know well that it is impossible.
the right thing what i want is to force panasonic recorder to detect DVD+R discs as DVD-R. or even bitsetting for DVD+RW to "DVD+R", cause avi files are not recognized on *RW discs.

off topic:

I used an old version of Binflash (sorry don't remember what version) and with my NEC 3500 i burned a DVD+R and bitset it to DVD-R. Here is the result and i still have the disc here somewhere:

dvd-rom is changing the bits to zero's [0] so dvd-r must be some other number. ?? 0101....j/k

Not sure if I missed this before or someone else has already posted it. The following setting explanations are included in the latest version of SmartBurn (v3.5.1).



Hyper Tuning (HT, not OHT) is automatically enabled when SmartBurn is. Further information may be found here.

I didnt see that statement about HT. You have to enable it with the smartburn program. It is not automatically turned on when the smartburn program is started.

hyper tuning will turn itself on for media not supported in the firmware.

Nah, what you said is accurate. Nothing is automatically turned on by just starting the program or by enabling SmartBurn; the options have to be individually enabled [except some models force OHT as a part of HT, and force HT as a part of OverSpeeding].

That is what I thought. Everything but Smartburn itself has to enabled by the user.

Released Settings Utility v1.2.1

* Added region setting tab

Region setting is now very simple. Just click the option you want to set, or clear all settings to the default. RPC1 is region free and seven region codes can be set, after selecting the option from the dropdown list. No longer do you have to worry about vender/user codes.

Please note: BD drives cannot be set to RPC1 (region free) yet, however they can still have near unlimited region code changes.

Hi CK

This new option is safety?? If You remember my problem when i use LtnFlash and clear region code my drive DH20a4H stop recognize some dvd+r.....

Hi VANT. Yes, that problem you had was a strange one.

I'd have to say that this feature is as safe as any other operation the drive does, that writes to the EEPROM.

I've used it on 4 DVD writer models, 1 slim DVD writer and 1 BD combo drive (doesn't support RPC1), with no problems, and I've checked that it should even work on models as far back as the 411S.

I have a LiteON iHOS104.37 I want to make RPC-1.
Have done the following.

1. I load EEPROM utility 5.0.1.rar.
2. Browse to the 4 kb ATAPI_iHOS104_WL06_RPC1 EEPROM and restore it.
3. Reboot.
4. Initiate Settings utility 1.2.1.rar and select RPC1 instead of RPC2 and press set.

The settings utility won't let me change it no matter what.
It shows region: control, setting RPC-2. If I try RPC-1 it says Sorry, region control for this drive could not be set to RPC-1.

I'm on Vista 32 and have uninstalled AnyDVD HD. Have also tried in failsafe mode, but still the same and I don't have access to XP machine...

I'm running out of ideas. Discinfo shows locked.

First post here. I tried V1.2.1 on my iHAS424 Y ZL1W & all of the feautres are not available. Will these new drives with different chipsets be supported in the near future? Thanks in advance.

Hi SCHU_P1 and welcome to cdfreaks.

Sorry, but the Y series will not be supported by any of my tools, except perhaps the Flash Utility. From what we can tell from the firmware, basically it's an Optiarc with a LiteOn ID.
