I also noticed that the drive returned an unexpected value when the book type setting was read, before a book type has been set. My advise (if you decide to use bitsetting again), would be to set a default setting for DVD+R the first time you do it. And rest assured that this tool uses the latest drive commands for bitsetting and not the old legacy commands, so it should be very safe.

C0deKing – Thanks for this amazing utility. It certainly helps to make Lite-On drives some of the more exciting ODDs on the market, especially when coupled with your test/modified firmwares. I do miss that wizard of the Smartburn utility however . Nonetheless, I can overlook his absence since the whole enable/disable Smartburn setting has been made much more intuitive for this user (not to mention the joy of no longer having to use a separate bit-setting utility).I know you have made your choice regarding implementing MID/burn speed reporting, and I undoubtedly respect that since you are the author of the utility and the enduring contributor around here. But if your main aim for the utility is ‘reducing the number of mouse clicks’ and corralling setting options, then is not having to launch Smartburn to check the MID/speed another step toward obtaining this goal? I know it’s a reporting function like you say, but I guess I’m draw to the alluring possibility of ‘one app to rule them all’. That is to say, your app has already rendered much of Smartburn of no use (or redundant) and I wouldn’t mind getting rid of it altogether. Additionally, a novice like me might confuse or undo settings when having to launch both the Smartburn utility and yours (that is, of course, when I am interested in both checking disc info and altering settings). Thanks again for taking the time to create and share this utility. Sligo
thank you
Hi C0deKing, Prompted by a question in another thread, I tried using the bitsetting options with 3S drives and they weren't available. Is this correct?

I missed this one also. Thanks to everybody involved in getting this out ![]()
CoDeking, I think I found a bug. Ok If you have your original file in a folder instead of doing a copy and paste to your desktop but right clicking on the settings utility icon and choosing "send to desktop create shortcut". Then if the original file/icon/program gets moved well if you click on the shortcut on your desktop instead of (windows usually does this in any other situation I've seen) it saying "can't find file would you like to browse for it" the program kind of opens but gets stuck and won't open or close and I couldn't even close it through task manager I had to reboot. BTW it's not like this would happen very often but might if someone decides to move their original file/folder for some reason.

Nope it is also not recognised. I'm running Vista SP1 64bit is that the problem? THe drive it only shows is my H: drive wich is deamon tools cd-rom emulation cdrom. The offical firmware updater of lite see my drive oke |
| I don't know much about Vista x64. Usually with XP it's caused by not using Microsoft IDE drivers with ASPI drivers. cd-rom emulators can cause problems as well.

I removed the Daemon tools emu but still it doesnt find the Lite-On drive ![]() Maybe its Windows Vista SP1 64 bit?
how is your bios settings set? I have SATA as AHCI and not SATA as IDE..
that is the problem i think, i cant turn it to IDE because then vista doesnt start anymore! I hope CK will look into the problem why it doesnt work with Intel AHCI setting
Hi ![]() I have a similar problem, in that. If I want to try ACHI, my setup would not boot up then.
Great util, thanks a bunch. Just a suggestion, it would be nice to have a right click "What's This" with a brief explanation of what each option does and why I might want it on or off. I had to spend a decent amount of time looking around the forums for explanations of what each thing really meant and trying to find pro/cons for them. Seems to be working fine on my LH-20A1L.
