Rebadged DVD drives?

LiteOn / PLDS / Sony Writer Discuss, Rebadged DVD drives? at CD and DVD Writers forum; Does LiteOn manufacture dvd drives that are rebadged as other brands such as I/O Magic, or Buslink etc.? This is what goes on with cd-rw drives. Does anyone know who makes the Buslink, Micro Advantage or I/O Magic drives? They are ussually cheaper than the name brands.

Those brands use AOpen (Ricoh), or BTC more often than Lite-ON now.

Except for external drives, I don't think LiteOn is currently being re-badged by anyone. They've eliminated the middle men and are marketing directly.

Buslink sells a 4X DVD+R/RW that is a rebadged LDW-401S. I've seen it for $99.

Sony, TDK, and Memorex still sell Lite-ON manufactured drives.

Anyone know if the Buslink dvd -+RW drive on sale at compusa for 100 after rebates is a liteon. Its got the same specs as the 411s, well its 4x4x12x +r, 4x2x12x -r, and 40x24x40 cdr/rw. Can anyone confirm it, as I don't want to open the box to confirm it just yet.

I thought the Memorex was a Pioneer 106D. Forgot about Sony.

I looked in an open box and it looks like a LiteOn to me. It also has the same spec's as the LDW-401, especially the 40x24x40 CD specs.

Norcent is using LiteOn drives. The Norcent 52x32x52 CD-RW and the 4x DVD+R drives are LiteOns. That's about the only reabdged LiteOns I've seen recently. I haven't come across an open Buslink box such that I could peek inside. (All the Norcent boxes are unsealed so you can open then up and look).

My TDK 840G is a rebadged plex. 708A, and I believe the model before this one a rebadged NEC 1300A

TDK DVW-A040212N-A has the same specs as 411S and is sold here.
