LiteOn / PLDS / Sony Writer Discuss, Problems with Samsung CDRs at CD and DVD Writers forum; I get corrupted sectors when writing on Samsung CDs (certified to 16x) when writing on 24x LiteOn. The writing reports no errors from CloneCD or the drive. But when I try to make an image from the backup I get cannot read certain sectors - they appear to be corrupted

I get corrupted sectors when writing on Samsung CDs (certified to 16x) when writing on 24x LiteOn. The writing reports no errors from CloneCD or the drive. But when I try to make an image from the backup I get cannot read certain sectors - they appear to be corrupted (not written properly).

Has anyone got the same problem.

I have tried everything to no avail :-

1. Burnt at 8x.
2. Checked that it wasn't the source (my Plex 8x wrote on the Samsung CDs just fine).
3. Tried 5 times - got 5 corrupted CDs

It seems LiteOn does not like Samsung CDs or I got a bad/damaged writer.

This pisses me off - can't they make drives that report a writing error - or some sort of method to tell you that a sector was not written properly!! (This goes for all rewriter drives)

I wouldn't have even known there were problems if it wasn't for trying to make a backup of a backup.

You wrote tham at a higher speed than 16X? They was only 16X certified.......

Do you have firmware 5S54 or newer since the write quality is improved with the newer versions.

And some discs and writers just don't work well together
