| Hi. I'm looking for firmware for a Sony DW-Q58A. Its listed on the bottom of this page http://codeguys.rpc1.org/firmwares.html but there isn't any firmware for it. I've noticed in some posts that it was rebadged to a LiteOn SOSW-833S. But that doesn't help much because that's listed down the bottom with no links to firmware as well... Does anybody have firmware for either of these two still? |
| I'm looking for an archived version of Omnipatcher 2.4.0, as I have found that versions from 2.4.2 onward do not support the 6X and 8X write speeds for DVD-R on a Sony DW-D56A. Would anyone be able to point me to a copy? |
| Hi everybody, Lite-On DVDRW LH-18A1H using Win98SE on Dell XPS T750r. Thanks for the great site. I don't think I ever needed to post before because all my questions were already covered. The issue now is that I just wanted to get Supported Media info from KProbe. 10 second task, right? But I got the "Safety Consideration" message so I upgraded to the latest KProbe 2.5.2. Same message. So then I found here about the IDE lock-up/BSOD problem, higher up in this thread. Further in the thread someone suggested OmniPatcher would give the same information. So I downloaded it. But if it does give it, it sure isn't obvious how (not to me, anways). The DVD Media Support tab says "The contents of this tab are not available for this firmware". Fair enough, because I also read that OmniPatcher can extract firmware from a drive, so if I can extract it, it will then tell me what media are supported. But once again it's not obvious how to do it. Instead of giving up, I downloaded LH-18A1H firmware from here: http://codeguys.rpc1.org/firmwares.html It was labelled GL0J (stock). But this turned out to be not OmniPatch data at all. It was a rar file that expanded to an exe that wanted to update my LH03 version to LH09. Although that sounds like a good idea, I did not really want to do that unless I could extract the existing firmware in case I don't like the upgrade. All I wanted to do was find the supported media. Is it possible? Best regards, Ed |
| @ed800uk: You can see the supported media and burning speeds in your firmware by using MediaCodeSpeedEdit. You can either download the firmware from the Internet somewhere, or dump it from your drive using a flasher such as e.g. C0deKing's Flash Utility.

When update OmniPatcher to support Lite-On iHAS220? I need to update. |
| Quote:
![]() As the post you quoted says, there will be no more updates for OmniPatcher, at least not from me anyway. ![]() But currently for the iHAS120/220 there's some patched firmware for Enhanced OHT (better quality burning when OHT is enabled) here: http://club.cdfreaks.com/2156248-post507.html More patches for these drives may also be released in the near future.

| I can't get omnipatcher to run. I'm logged in as a user with administrator rights. I've tried rightclick and Open, rightclick and Run as then selected Administrator. I've downloaded it with different browsers on different computers and through different ISPs. WinRAR says the archive is fine. But the program will not run. NO ERROR MESSAGE. Just nothing happens at all when I try to run it. It is not showing up in the process list in Task Manager. The drive* I want to patch the firmware for is connected to the PC, running XP Pro SP3, that omnipatcher will not run on. I have Spybot Search and Destroy and Avast antivirus. I've not told anything to not allow omnipatcher to run, and I did not get the popup from Windows asking if I wanted to allow omnipatcher to run. *An HP OEM Lite-On SOHC-4832K which I'd cross flashed to retail SOHC-5232K then extracted the latest OEM firmware from the DOS flasher (with WinRAR) and put it onto the drive with Flash Utility 3.0.2 Now it doesn't support reading DVD+R/RW or DVD-R DL but it does read DVD-R/RW and DVD+R DL. I want to see if it can be hacked to at least read DVD+R/RW. One odd thing, after flashing the OEM firmware I tried buring a Memorex 12x High Speed CD-RW in it at 12x but it failed several times with a power calibration error. When I put that disc in my LG GCE-8400B, Nero gave me a choice of 10x or 12x. It had never given me anything but 10x with this disc before, not even in my Plextor PX-760A or my NEC ND-3540A or my Lite-On LTR-40125S. Looks like this OEM drive not only has the ability to properly read ALL the speeds a CD-RW is capable of, but also to 'correct' something on them (even when it fails to write) to make other drives see all the speeds too. Edit: Finally got it to run on a different PC, but it won't allow the DVD media types to be changed in that firmware file. |
| ^ Your firmware is probably corrupted. Try reflashing it with the SOHC-5232K NK0J firmware on my site. OmniPatcher will only patch the read speed for Combo drives.

| MCSE is for editing FW in burners, not DVDROM I got some new dvdrom (like the liteon ihds118 and the dh16d3s I have) that the FW ripped from the flash utility is not supported by the old omnipatcher to get rip of the riplock (which I really want to). Any help for me? I really hate to read the dvdr discs at only 8x max. |

Well, why take the risk of flashing when you should be able to fix your 802s..Here is what you should try before flashing. I have an HP Windows media center model m1070n OS XP, this is for XP ONLY! and my drive was coruupted or missing with code 39 showing. You can check this by right clicking your Computer, go to Properties than to device manager. In Device Manager click on hardware, there you will see DVD-CD-ROM Drives etc, click plus than right click your drive DVD/ROM etc...Go to properties and you will see whats wrong, should be code 39..Anyway, the fix is you need to delete your key filters HIGH and LOW. Go to start, than to run, type in REGEDIT and press enter. You need to search for key 4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318. Click that key, to the right side of the screen/window you will see High and Low Filters. delete these Filters. Re-boot...Your fixed See link http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...reg_R1002_USEN You want to go to Step3 it tells you there, but better follow my instructions, its straight to the issue. If this fails and you have an HP, go caht with support...link http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Nav?h...&lang=en&cc=us |
| What do I do when Omnipatcher won't run? I'm logged in to XP SP3 as a user with admin rights. I've also tried rightclick and run as Administrator. NOTHING HAPPENS. Omnipatcher will not run. NO ERROR MESSAGE. Just *nothing*. It's not in the applications or processes tabs in task manager. I need to patch the Lite-On YS0N.exe firmware for the LTN-486S, of which I have a Compaq OEM version, firmware YQSJ. Is there some DLL or other file it needs? |
| Hi... Please... i want to modify the madia code sony16d1 (-R) to write with 1x 2x and 4x speed. My burner is a sony dru720a and only shows to record with 6x 8x 12x 16x. So to fix the writes speed with this media i put in the omnipatcher dvd media support then select the sony16d1 media and mark the 1x 2x 4x square in the right column, then save the bin firmware in this case is JY07 version. My question is if this way is OK. Thanks |
