Hi

I assume I need to wait for an update to support the new SH-16A7S? I backed up it's firmware and then tried to load it and OmniPatcher wasn't too happy with it.

Cheers

Si

omnipatcher doesn't suppoert 5s series drives and newer.
C0deKing will maybe release a patched firmware for your drive. it may take a while.

or is it too much to ask

greg42, perhaps one day code65536 would be kind enough to come back and do this. It would take him a lot less time then it would take me, as I don't have that much experience with Perl, which OmniPatcher is written in. I can make small changes but to do something like this would be a very big learning curve for me and I just don't have the time to do the patches and to do this.

PumaUK already answered the second line in your post.
To unpack .rar files you'll need tools like 7-Zip (freeware) or WinRAR.

I came up with most of the patches and code65536 implemented them in OmniPatcher, so it was a team effort, and one that worked well from a time perspective.

@Codeking and Code,

Can you try to implement the Samsung 182M Firmwares? At least strategy changing.

Thanks

Hopefully this can be implemented in MCSE in the future, possibly even with faster read speeds, but ala42 and I have some work to do before this can happen with this firmware.

you can't modify firmwares from any writer newer than the 1653S.

How come this great tool was never given support for the 165p6s?

Read from post #479 on this page.

I would also add that LiteOn added patch protection from the 5S onwards, which meant, for some time, patching the firmware was not possible.

Really? Is there a reason for that? Or is it just too complicated and too time consuming to implement new drives? I was just about to post a question about having problems using OmniPatcher with my LH20A1P - I just couldn't load a firmware that was dumped directly from my drive neither could I make it work with the one downloaded from the codeguys web page. But it looks like I have my answer. Cheers.

Yeah, RPC1 was down for a while but it's back up and running again now. I'm not sure for how long though. They need a System Admin and haven't had any luck finding one. Without one the site cannot be kept running indefinitely. If anyone thinks they are up to the task, then please contact the staff at rpc1.org.

Havent been around the LiteOn forums for some time now, but I was wondering if EDC (Error Detection Code) can be disabled on the LiteOn drives with a firmware update?

i also requested that "feature". asked C0deKing some time ago, but no luck.
i think i know what you want this for but this doesn't belong in this forum.
i know a very good and cheap drive for this task. just write me a PM.

Yea, its probably for what you think.. Since this thread is about firmware patcher for LiteOn drives and the possibility that the CodeGuyz may be able to implement the feature, why not post it here.. It'll save me the time and money of buying another drive for this task..
