OEM SOHC-4832K: can I use 5232K modded firmware?

LiteOn / PLDS / Sony Writer Discuss, OEM SOHC-4832K: can I use 5232K modded firmware? at CD and DVD Writers forum; Can I use the modded firmware for the SOHC-5232k in an SOHC-4832k? Are there any incompatabilities between the two drive's firmware? Also, what's the max dvd rip speed for the 4832k, with stock and modded firmware? And is HP and Compaq the only OEMs that use this Lite-On drive?

According to the documentation here, the 4832K is just a 5232K with OEM firmware to reduce the burn speed to 48x, so in theory it should work fine to flash it to a 5232K. Also see this thread.
