Great work C0deKing! I was was glad to get these new firmwares on my iHAS220 drive as I found then when using that drive at the same time as my LG GH20NS10 drive I could almost complete 2 burns on the LG to every one on the LiteON. This new firmware has helped with that a little but the LG still smokes the LiteON for speed, and its not even a patched firmware. Anyone know if its possible to crossflash a iHAS220 to a iHAS322? Don't want to kill my drive and was hoping someone out there had some insight into this.

i have a little question
the learning process for the litty drives gets saved on the drive firmware for a certain media

will it be used (the saved strategy) even if the OHT &HT off ?

Released:
iHAP 122/222/322/422 FR SCR
iHAS 122/222/322/422 FR SCR

SCR = Strategy Change Recalibrate

Strategy change recalibrate improves burn quality and jitter. It works with all burns, with or without OHT enabled.

Note: I do not recommend burning faster than 16x with any of these 22x drives, unless it can be done with OS disabled. Overclocking 8x media to 12x of 16x works well but 16x media should not be overclocked. Best results overall, are with all options enabled and burn speed limited to 16x or less.

Some results can be found here:

i made 12 DVD's with the MID: Daxon AZ3 all went fine with all options on
and suddenly without me changing every thing the results went berserk

of course i had to reset the OPC History and start over again with the learning process but i'm afraid the drive will go nuts again

i have 600+ DAXON AZ3 i don't want to waste half of them in the learning process every time the drive gone stupid

Currently I can't provide this patch for the 120/220 drives, due to an incompatibility between the 20x firmware and the 22x firmware.

Daxon AZ3 media can be quite variable, especially between batches, as you probably know. Could it have been an issue with the media, rather than the drive?

I haven't had to reset OPC in my 120/220 drives but they do get flashed quite often, as you can imagine.

pfloyd1, is that the same drive and media as post #51. If so, can you burn one with only OHT on. Thanks.

i have checked that there was nothing wrong with the media and i used the same batch on the same drive with nice results

any way it got better after i cleared the OPC history

i know that indeed

BTW is flashing for many times affects the drive age in any way?

Thanks for the scans, pfloyd1.

Your drive produces very good jitter levels at the outside of the disc. What's the jitter like when burning at 18x?

Just an FYI. In all of the patched firmware there is a leadout fix that can save as much as 30 seconds of an 8x burn.

After the last scan, I lost the drive. It would not recognize any disks, CD or DVD. Tried restoring Eprom, flashed to stock firmware and new and older firmware. Shows up in Device Manager but no disk recognition...what gives.
Took it back to Walmart and got another. What could I possibly be doing wrong? PSU?

After the last scan, I lost the drive. It would not recognize any disks, CD or DVD. Tried restoring Eprom, flashed to stock firmware and new and older firmware. Shows up in Device Manager but no disk recognition...what gives.
Took it back to Walmart and got another. What could I possibly be doing wrong? PSU?
I've done over a hundred burns between my two 22x drives. How many burns have you done?

Have you checked the 5V and 12V lines. I lost a drive due to an external enclosure PSU that had 15V on the 12V line. It also stopped detecting a disc in the drive.

The power supply is the first thing to check when an external drive starts acting flaky. Very common problem.

I've done quite a bit of burns.....I have a good spare PSU. Think I'll put that in and hold on to my WalMart reciept.
