FB = Fast burn (12x PCAV)
EOS = Enhance Over Speed (not all media will burn well at the write speeds offered)

All the patched firmware has a leadout fix that can save as much as 30 seconds of an 8x burn.
FB (Fast Burn) is a power option and increases burn speed, sometimes, at the expense of burn quality.

Re: The New LiteOn/PLDS Patched Firmware Thread

You're welcome KTL. Here's a little something special for iHAS220 owner watching this thread. An experimental firmware version 8LC1. The first time I've reversioned a firmware since the quality patch for the SOHW-832S.

Here's an 18x result (All on):

CK, I tried to flash 7LC1, but the drive got into a state where the tray wouldn't open nor the LED blink after a reboot, then showed 0L05 firmware (assumed in safe/boot mode). Tried reflashing 7LC1 but same result, reflashed with patched 7L0F and everything was fine. Luckily, it didn't die like last time.

My iHAS220 survived the reboot and now shows 8LC1 as its installed firmware. I'm just preparing a few disc images to burn. There must be something wrong with the firmware for the iHAS120, CK might be able to shed some light on it.

Re: The New LiteOn/PLDS Patched Firmware Thread

Hey CK, the experimental 7LC1/8LC1 firmware doesn't support bitsetting through EEPROM Utility 4.1.0?

Re: The New LiteOn/PLDS Patched Firmware Thread

Thanks for the reports and scans.

I've just about finished 7LC2/8LC2, which now supports bitsetting and fixes the 12x burn quality bug.

Fixing the 12x bug now opens they way for PCAV 12x burning as well, but I'm focusing on quality at the moment.

Here's a 12x burn of PRODISC R04 using 8LC2 (All on):

Re: The New LiteOn/PLDS Patched Firmware Thread

spotted something in the firmware
the Lite-on smart burn utility and even the nero and the lightScribe tools says the drive has LS capability

my guess since the hardware index is missing this is a false suppourt

Thanks. My base firmware supports lightscribe, so it will report this, even though it won't work without the index hardware. It has no effect on anything else. I'll try at some stage to make it report that it isn't a lightscribe drive.

Re: The New LiteOn/PLDS Patched Firmware Thread

I'm unsure if it's the drive or the firmware, but I've only found out now that my iHAS220 and firmware 8LC2 loves -R media (if that's even possible ). Posted a new scan of -R media.

Re: The New LiteOn/PLDS Patched Firmware Thread

Released a new version of iHAS120/220 7LC2 and 8LC2. I found a mistake in one of my patches. I'm not sure what it could affect.

Re: The New LiteOn/PLDS Patched Firmware Thread

I don't think I ran across any problems with 7LC2/8LC2 v.1, but a v.2 to fix the problems that others may have encountered is just super. Much thanks CK for this experimental firmware! I've never been so enthused with a LiteOn before, and your new firmware almost makes me feel like I have a new and different drive!

At this time, the patched 22x firmware does not fix the high jitter problem when burning above 16x. I hope to release an experimental version, like the 20x firmware, that helps with this at some stage.
