LiteOn / PLDS / Sony Writer Discuss, LiteON Ltr-40125S@48125W read speed at CD, DVD and Blu-ray Writers forum; Hi folks.. me got problem, Nero Info Tool 1.02 and Cdmate sez mah burner read speed is 12x speed.. shouldn't it be 40x?? WTF?? what seems to be the problem folks? tell me plz

Hi folks.. me got problem, Nero Info Tool 1.02 and Cdmate sez mah burner read speed is 12x speed.. shouldn't it be 40x?? WTF??

it's the safeburn talking. When you insert a blank cd-r it will always tell you that the highest reading speed is 12X. If you burn anything on it, it will tell you the correct reading speed for the disk.
It matters which brand you use and what rated speed it has.
The same thing as it does for writing.

I thought that SMART-BURN only activates during Writing and not Reading??...

I think SMART-BURN is the media checking/speed limiting function of Liteon drives, not the buffer underrun protection?

Anyways, same deal for my LTR40125S - ZS0K, 12x read displayed when a blank is in the drive, real read speed when it's a non-blank.
