I've also experienced similar issues with my 20A4P and now the iHASx22.

HT/OHT seems to be a no-go for DL media because you'll get coasters like this sooner or later.

Just got my filthy hands on a liteon iHAS322 much better than
the pioneer dvr213LS that was having problems with my expensive verbatim
2.5X dvd+r DL discs so it had to go. heres a scan of one of these discs
seems ok what do the experts think?

Hi bcmalloy and welcome to cdfreaks.

Congrats on your new drive.

1/ See this thread for a Nero CD/DVD Speed that will allow you to display jitter and how to enable it:
http://club.cdfreaks.com/f44/ihap322...jitter-269134/

2/ Use the floppy disc tool bar button to save the scan, and save using the .PNG format.

That disc should be readable but the PIEs are a bit high (for my liking) on the second layer. Hopefully jitter stays below 12% (right hand scale), when scanned with jitter enabled.

hi C0deKing

Appreciate the welcome, trying to get some decent burns going, do you think a better drive is needed or I have a media problem?

scans made with Verbatim Dvd+r DL made in Singapore.
I've scanned the same media (same spindle of 20)burnt on two different drives.

1.NEW liteon ihas322 first burn

http://club.cdfreaks.com/attachment....1&d=1237806572

2.Pioneer DVR-213 LS
http://club.cdfreaks.com/attachment....1&d=1237806572

The ihas322 seems much better, still a very cheap drive....

Hi again bcmalloy. The LiteOn burn is definitely a better error result than the Pioneer but the jitter is a bit of a worry. Have you tried playing the entire disc in a DVD player?

The current LiteOn drives seem to be quite sensitive, when it comes to jitter and often the jitter is reported much lower when scanned in another drive, like a BenQ or an earlier LiteOn drive, so it may not be a worry at normal player read speeds.

some nice scores c0deKing, have not tried any burns in a in DVD player
yet, I gotta say considering this drive cost me and looking at your results
I think it's fair to say this drives pretty damn good value. cost me the price of 4 McDonald meals (regular)

Thanks bcmalloy. Yes, they are good value, especially if you're happy to burn at speeds 16x and below, which most of us do for any data we want to keep anyway. This drive is also very good at burning 8x media at 12x and 16x, by turning on the OverSpeed option.

I'll be releasing the FR SCR patched firmware soon, as well.
