So my question is: is it possible to overwrite the existing strategy if the new is better, so that to have a single strategy for every MID?
Why I store every learnt disc's data in stead of learnt MID's data is becasue if you re-insert the same disc for second session adding, or continous tray out/in and write, the learning will be skip and directly use the learnt data in drive of this unique disc. The OPC times which drive can do will be limited because learning will use more and more OPC area.

Hi worker,

Here is the next test firmware.

http://www.yourfilehost.com/media.ph...M_HT691WIN.rar
http://www.yourfilehost.com/media.ph..._HT691_WIN.rar

I think I have fixed the power problem when overspeed to 18/20x.
And 12x burning curve seems to be more normal.

Thanks for the testings.

Overspeed is not one of our internal testing item, all the feedbacks I can get are yours, include everyone here, thanks again.

I think this disc has write strategy tables for 18x and 20x in the firmware. So, even you didn't enable overspeed, it shall be able to write at 20x. Under such condition, if you didn't enable FHT, drive will use manu tuning table in the firmware and perform normal opc. On the other hand, if you enable FHT, HT leaning will take over the normal opc. Just check the LED flash method for confirm.

Wind for some reason the first link is not working for me. I tried the second to make sure I was doing things right and it works great but I need the first one. tia.....

Both links work fine for me right now. the first one is "XV5M_HT691WIN.rar" and the second one is "YV5M_HT691_WIN.rar"

The first one lacks the _ of the second one. That might be your problem.

Verbatim MCC004 (PAPA MIT), burned at 20x, All On (4:51)

Fantastic Wind. And my fastest 20x burn yet! This is a new batch, btw.

BTW, MCC004 is limited to 16x without OS enabled. The only +R with 18x and 20x strategies appears to be RITEKR05 and YUDEN000T03.

Verbatim MCC 02RG20 (MAP7), burned at 18x (Maximum), All On (5:14)

I knew this drive had the potential to burn like this. Great job Wind.

Perhaps the 18x OS limit placed on a lot of 16x media (i.e. SONYD21 etc.) can now be revisited.

OEM SONYD21, burned at 18x (Maximum), All On (5:05)

18x with OHT in 5:05 is brilliant. And this isn't my best SONYD21.

No reason to limit this MID to 18x now.

NewFish those are incredible burns for that media at that speed....

I'll have to do some burns and see what I can do. lol. At least I have a goal to attain, even tho it's unattainable.

Hi Wind, there is a problem with HT On and OHT/OS Off. When burning speed drops down the drive doesn't continue burning process. In this phase the led flash like when the drive is reading. After about two minutes I've aborted burning process.
This is the sequence of my burns.

First disc, Verbatim YUDEN000T03 @ 20x, HT On - OS/OHT Off

YUDEN_20x_HT_On_OHT_Off.png

Second disc, HT On - OS/OHT Off

YUDEN_20x_HT_On_OHT_Off_2.png

So I've tried a disc with, HT/OHT On - OS Off

Fourth disc, HT On - OS/OHT Off
In this case no speed drop, burning process completed with very good result.

Fifth disc, Verbatim TYG03 @ 20x, HT On - OS/OHT Off
Speed drop and same story as YUDEN000T03.

Laser fake MCC 03RG20 MIHK , burned at 18x, All On (5:18)

This media seldom burns at 12x without a PIF mountain at the end, so a result like this, with low jitter and a perfect TRT, is pretty impressive.
