Hi all!

After a discussion with the great CodeKing about slowness of the drive in question, he give me the opportunity to test a patched version of the most recent firmware for this very cheap and silently but slow SATA DVD reader drive!

In detail, i was bored by the read speed of DVD+/-R discs, locked @ 12x

The first two read speed test that i made returned me the following results:
  • Disc 1: TDK 003 DVD+R (sorry for the 16x limit in the graph)
  • Disc 2: Ritek G05 DVD-R
As you can see, the read speed now is undoubtedly better!

Unfortunately i can't test with DVD+/-R DL discs

I leave to the author of this the decision to publish or not this version of firmware, which I think is perfect

I've had a few requests for this firmware and I'm now confident to release it after quite a few have used it. Here's the link to the patched read speed firmware:
http://codeguys.rpc1.org/firmwares/dvdrom/EJ5353.rs.rar

It's a flasher EXE, so just run the enclosed EXE file.
