use the smartburn utility to turn on hypertuning

ok i found it turned on hypertuning and still does the same thing with 8x media in it. just put a 16x+r sony (SD21) in it and its writing now.. for some reason this and the other 2 i have had will not write to 8x media

ok guys i stand corrected. i went to the smart burn utility but i didnt realize i needed to do more than just open it and click on the smartburn part... i looked at the guode givin in the above post from nekrosoft.... i did enable smartburn plus turned on the hypertuning. stuck the 8x+r TY in the drive and burned away... took 7:50 to burn from my HDD. i did a scan on it. man was it nasty. but i was online doing some searching for more info while burning so it looks bad. here is a scan from it.



seeing that this is the first burn of this type media on this drive. i assume the scans will get better once it does more of this media. which i have alot of??

that is one bad burn; ecma standards says PIF cannot exceed 4. where did you get that media from? is there any damage to the media?

that disc is actually from Taiyo Yuden. i requested some samples and they sent me 10 of the 8x+r'si have 3 left. here is a scan of a 8x+r hubprintable TY i just got from meritline.

Much better there cincyrob. That drive seems to be a fast learner. LOL. PM to let me know your settings. I think that we have the same settings but I want to make sure I'm on the right page. ;-)

Maxell Branded MXL RG04 burned at 20x

I can't believe how bad Lite-on butchered this DVD, these burn with amazing quality in BenQ, some of my best DVDs, hard to find too.

What's wrong with that scan (test)? It seems ok, especially burned at 16X. I'm a little new to scanning, H/S burning, and being able to discern most of these tests. I'm still learning so be gentle. lol.

edit: ooops you posted while I was writing this. lol. The 95 was the one that I was talking about and since it's there the 77 isn't all that bad for a 20X burn.
