As I said, I thought this was the case. Glad it all worked out. Flashing the wrong drive can be deadly.

Infiniti branded MIT MCC 03RG20 burned @ 8x with DVDDecrypter 3.5.4.0. SB, HT and OS all on.

I find it best to stick to 8x with this drive. Otherwise the PIEs rise sharply in the early part of the burn as the speed increases.

This is great info. I had given up on this media due to those peaks I would see on just about any drive, much the same as the MCC 02RG20. Glad to find that there is finally something that works. Is 12X as bad as 16X?

Would you mind posting the pressed serial number from the hub so we can determing whether it is Prodisc or CMC made?

Thanks

12x is nearly as bad - the drive seems to make that seemingly huge effort to increase speed that results in high PIE for almost all media.

The disc has a lilac top and the hub code is MAPA19IK-32011064 6.

khoang82,

You have to use SmartBurn 3.1.16 Liteon utility, available at http://www.liteonit.com/ODD/English/.../e_utility.asp

You can also use KProbe 2.5.2, available at http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread....threadid=93944

There is also a SmartBurn thread http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=168354

Have fun

Thanks, I have to get some -R 16X for testing and it is nice to know it will be useful for something when I am done. That serial matches up with the +R 16X I got; much better than the other version. I have to assume it is the Prodisc variation.

I went ahead and got a 165P6S to basically do some reading and scanning (thanks to chas0039) but have to say i am really impressed with the burns.

Here is a Verbatim Brand 16x -R burned at 16x and scanned at 8x. I noticed many people scanning at 8x now and i always thought the *standard* was 4x so if anyone wants me to scan them at that speed let me know.
Thanks to everyone here for all their help.

These were all burned with SB,OS,and HT on and were all first time burns with the media. I'll add some more tomorrwo since its late and i'm tired.

Tom

EDIT-its not allowing me to add the attachment for some reason. Will try to figure it out.

OK,changed the name and it uploaded so maybe the filename was too long or something.

Here are 2 scans from some printable top 4x -R Princo's i picked up at my local OfficeMax for 10 USD for 100 of them. I got them to put Divx movies on for my home player.

First burn is @ 4x which is the max my Pioneer 111 will do them and the second burn is at 8x,which is the max for the Lite-On. As the last few, everything on.

I'll try one at 6 x later tonight.

jjtommyjj, thanks for all your postings. I love to see scans of your media as I never get that stuff here. It supports the impression of a pretty decent burner.

BTW, what is the media code of that Prodisc 16X?

No problem,i live outside of Pittsburgh Pa and get all my media at BestBuy usually but sometimes Office Depot or Office Max.

Here is the Prodisc Media Code. It was Memorex branded 16x +R.

I'm currently burning about 20 discs with the Mcc004 code with everything enable so we can see if there is a learning thing going on with them. I'm curious about that.

Got it, R04. Thanks. Princo at 10 cents each. I wonder??? Maybe for TV shows. They are so disposable anyway.

Yeah, they were on a "Managers Special" table a few months ago at Office Max when i stopped in to get the Verbatimm DL's on sale and i got them for my Divx and Xvid files since my set-top DVd Recorder plays MP-4 files and they work great for that.

OK,the top pic is of the first burn i did with Verbatim MCC004 16x burned at 16x.

the second pic is the same media,15 to 20 burns later.

I have to do some more and i'm out of movies to burn LOL but the end of the first scan looks like my NEC 3500 and 3550@4550 scans with the rise near the end.

On the Lite-On now,it seems that peak has been eliminated.

However, one burn does not a pattern make so i will burn a few more once i get more material to burn and then post back.

Maybe I'll try a CD-Speed Data Disc and see.

You might want to consider 12X. Isn't that learning ability great? I remember when C0deKing first reported it and most posters felt he had lost a screw.
