    Wind, odd that this test firmware seems to reduced the quality of MCC004 in my drive and I note the PIF spikes are at the 3.0GB-3.2GB point again. Here's a scan of this same batch of media using earlier firmware:

    C0deKing, the max value (3) is also at the 3.2 GB mark, but overall it looks better than yours.

    Thanks H3rB3i. Yes and interestingly a 50% increase in PIEs as well.

    Hehe, true I didn't look onto PIE , However, here the next wired thing. Fujifilm Prodisc_R05 doesn't burn at 16x anymore. This media worked exellent with MS0M

    I'll post here the links to 3 scans that I made on the "old" 165P6S thread, 'cause now they are in the wrong place. These are three burns in a row of RICOHJPNR03@16x with firmware MV7U, HT ON.

    Verbatim branded TYG02 burned with Imgburn 1.2.0.0 at 8x with SB, OS and HT all on.

    I was sceptical at the 165P6S scan so tried the 1650 as well.

    Easily the best scan I've had with a 165P6S burned DVD-R so far.

    With any of the post-MS0M test firmware, burn quality on 8x +RW is unaccaptable and extremely erratic - unpredictable. Ranges from complete coaster to just barely usable. MS0M is fairly predictable, and quality is adequate.

    Also I note that the riplocks have been re-instated, read speeds are too slow.

    HT = on
    OS = on
    burntime 6:01

    at least the drive could reach 16x for this media again. The 3.8 GB+ section looks quiet strange since I didn't do anything while the disc was burned (no reason for these fluctuations). However, the result is good.

    So far with MV7U all my burns have been at least as good and mostly better than previous firmwares.

    TYG02 burned at 8X, HT on SB on, OS off. MV7U firmware.

    The PIE total is about 400% higher than I like to see; other wise, an OK burn.

    Verbatim MCC004 @ 12x (a different batch to what I've been using recently)
    HT: On
    OS: On
    Burn time: 6:14

    Why bother to burn at 16x. Scanned in the 1635S because I seem to be getting a 300% increase in PIFs in the 165P6S.

    something strange is going on

    here a short summary of what happened
    1. post 5 in this thread shows an exellent burning graph for MCC004
    2. After this burn I tried Prodisc_R05 with HT/OS off and the drive didn't go above 8x (see post 7).
    3. Then Prodisc_R05 HT/OS on --> the drive reaches 12x (post 8)
    4. Prodisc_R05 HT/OS on --> 16x, but strong buffer fluctuations and spikes in the writing graph (post 14) at the end of the burn 3.8GB+
    5. same graph as for Prodisc_R05 also for MCC004
    6. I flashed back to MV7N
    7. again same result for MCC004 and Prodisc
    8. flash to MV7U again
    9. MCC004 --> same result
    10. Prodisc_F02 --> result ok, good looking graph
    11. Prodisc_R05 --> again only 8x (aborted)
    12. Prodisc_R05 --> everthing ok, excellent burning graph

    H3rB3i, here is my comment:

    1. Please check the burn is using HT or not by the LED flashing method.
    2. If the burn is using HT, the writing speed maybe down to lower because of some troubles during HT learning.
    3. The strange graph maybe buffer under run or something else, can you confirm that System was not doing something at the time? If you can confirm that, then I have no idea why this happened.
