This thread is for the displaying and discussion of the results of LiteOn test firmware for the 1635S model.

Please do not use this thread to request upgrades for this drive.

Please do not use LiteOn support for any problems/issues/bugs with these test firmwares. Please post all results here whether good or bad, or explain the problem you are experiencing.

Also let me say thanks to Wind and his team for this achievement. It nothing short of amazing to have this drives firmware upgraded like this. It's made what was already a very good drive into an outstanding drive.

Please note that the YV6J firmwares has an even more enhanced HyperTuning than the 6S drive currently has and it shows in these results.

And I think this is new as well; with just OS enabled, the LED now does the HT type flash when OverSpeed enables it (it burns above the branded speed). I prefer this.

First up (all using HT or OS):
    Scan 1 - RITEK P16 @ 16x, burn time 6:15
    Scan 2 - MCC 03RG20 @ 16x, burn time 5:52
    Scan 3 - RICOHJPNR02 @ 12x, burn time 7:30

    1635S - YV6J

    RICOHJPNR01 @ 8x
    OS: On
    HT: On
    Burn time: 8:45

Good result but this media had a flatter PIE result with the earlier test firmware. I prefer the PIF result though.

Is this firmware available yet? and if not, any ideas when it might be released?

So, if someone want to be a tester of these HT/OS firmware, let me know. I need your feed back to let these functions become better. If these firmware seems no big problem at all, maybe we can put it at this forum as an unofficial firmware for everyone to download. I think it seems not right to let end user become a tester of our firmware, but not everyone has patient and I am one of them. Even the official firmware which passed our test still has bugs/problems in it, so I think there must exist some bugs in these un-tested firmware, that's why I(or LiteOn) can't release this kind of firmware at the begining. But, what if someone just willing to become a tester...?

maybe you could ask the customer service to make a test firmware site where everyone can subscribe after reading a disclaimer and then get an email with a link to the test firmwares. a tester forum where everyone can post detailed problems and maybe ways to fix them would be nice. maybe it's no easy way, but the best if you need feedback from end users.

i would be happy to test the new f/w also. At the moment i have Ritek G05 -R and cmc mag +R media both rated at 8x. If you would like my help then just tell me at what speeds you would like me to burn this media and how to use the O/S and HP function. Also if the f/w is not an auto flasher then could you recommend the relevant programs as i have none at the moment. Regards, Gav

ps: pm me for my email if needed

Thanks Wind, I want to test it.
More tests we do, more better will be the official version.

    Hey Guys,

I already know that I made a mistake to tell you that "if you want the firmware, contact me!"

I've dicided to public these firmwares for HT/OS testing, but I am out of office.
I've asked C0deKing to see if he can do me that favor or I can do it myself on Monday.

    Hi chok0,
You are so cool! That's a very helpful suggestion. I'll see if we can do that or not. Thanks!

Wind, I'm sure there are a lot of members on cdfreaks that would like nothing better than to test your firmware and I'm sure cdfreaks would want to assist in any way it can as well.

I'll host these firmwares on cdfreaks and provide links to the firmware in a new read first thread (sticky) with an explanation of what they are and how results and problems should be handled. Members can subscribe to the thread to find out when new releases are available and we can set up a special thread for each model to show the results. How does that sound?

Everyone please bear with me. Saturdays are family time for me and it may take me a little while to get this done but it will happen in the next 8-12 hour, I promise.

Edit: To get people started here's the 1635S firmware with HT. Remember this is test firmware so the results and problem should only be shown here:

Great! I just loaded firmware Y0X last night and not have the time to test it yet. Now a new firmware is available for testing again. I'm not complaining...just excited.
