Lite-Ons won't scan DL burns @ 4x

LiteOn / PLDS / Sony Writer Discuss, Lite-Ons won't scan DL burns @ 4x at CD and DVD Writers forum; All my Lite-Ons stop scanning at the layer split when I try to scan Verb DL burns at 4x. They'll scan at 8x with no problem. Is this normal or should I look for a problem somewhere? I'm using the latest version of Nero DiscSpeed. __________________ BenQ 1650 (BCIC) x2

I have the same problem with my 20A4P, no idea why.

But mine has proven itself as a good 8x scanner so it doesnt bother me that much.

Some LiteOns have the problem when show Jitter on is in CD/DVD-Speed on is ..

try whit jitter off and scann again

This is a problem with CD Speed (newer versions).
I use this older version for scanning DL media.

Tried 4.7.7.3. No luck, but scan of the first layer looks interesting.

My 20A4P seems to be good for 8x scanning as well. I am a bit surprised because my 20A1S definitely isn't.

4.6 seems to work too.

OK, I just tried a DL scan with my 20A4P, and it would only work with 4.60 and earlier. Turning off jitter in 4.7.7.3 and later did not work. I also notice that 4.60 and earlier don't even bother with jitter for DL scans, so the bug is somewhere in the CDSpeed code for jitter in later versions.

Yes. I'm using Nero DiscSpeed 4.11.2.0. But scanning at 4x doesn't always work. At any rate, there's not much difference between 4x and 8x scans. Here's one scanned at 4x:
