May I present to you, the LITEON LH-20A1P.
Got it from a local (Malaysia) PC Fair just yesterday.
The LH-20A1P was lauched alongside with the LH-18A1P.

So far it has been a pretty darn good burner, even with the el-cheapo 4x and 8x DVD+R media I have.
Read speed is definitely faster compared with my late Benq 1640 (went bad two weeks ago, after bought for 1 year & 1 month).

The drive still works with LtnRPC 1.0.0.

Included some scanning as well, but do pardon the average scores because of the no-name media used. But the LH-20A1P did performed on-par if not better (especially in terms of read speed and burn quality) than my late Benq 1640.

Though it is DVD-R, it shows Disc Type: DVD-ROM. I have the enabled the
Overly "hardworking" booktype setting maybe? Thought booktype settings only works on +R/RW media?

Perfect. Maybe we can see some sales on cheaper 16x media soon

(I mean, MCC 004 and YUDEN000 T03 are good enough to survive 20x burning, but I wonder why MCC is not in the list.)

In Penang PC Fair, it was going for RM150 from the authorized service center booth.

Yup, full retail boxed with 1 year warranty, heard that they are launching this nationwide in this Dec pc fair.

MCC isn't even included at 18X on the LH-18A1P (only with OverSpeed). I suppose Lite-On and Verbatim don't get along very well these days?

Attachment removed (I don't want people reflashing their EEPROM to use this firmware, as it is too dangerous and it may damage their drive. Each EEPROM has factory calibration data that is unique to each drive.).

Alan1476, I tried to crossflash my 18A1P with this firmware and my drive light just flashes all the time. If it can be flashed something else must have to be done to get it to work.
