i was burning a dvd today, after it's done, i edject the disc and then loads the disc back into the dvd burner drive as usual, then checked the disc to see if it can be read, and copy a few things from the cd to my hd, everything works, the dvd was readable.

i decided to take the disc out, so i push the edject button on my lite on burner.

as i push the edject button, i noticed it got stuck, before i can do anything, the tray with my disc pops out, but half way through, it slots back in, then madly slots back out, then in, then out then in, you get the picture.

when it finally stops, i quickly grabbed the disc in the tray in hopes that i would be able to get it out before the tray starts going craazy again, my attempt failed; as the tray suddendly retracts back in, i withdraw my hands but my dvd is stuck along ith the tray, the tray locked my dvd tight.

(kind of like when ppl use their dvd tray as a coffee holder, now imagine the edject button got stuck and the tray slides back in, effectively trapping their cup of coffee, then slides back out, then in then out, now imagine that cup of coffee is my disc.)

then out of the blue the tray pops back out, unstucking my disc, i grabbed the disc and unstick the 'edject' button on the dvd burner, i then checked the dvd for damage, there's to be none.

i then loads the dvd back into the dvd burner to see if it still can be read, i didn't see any scratches on the dvd, but i just wanted to MAKE SURE the dvd didn't get 'squashed' by the tray and that it is still readable, when the dvd burner starts reading my disc, i was horrified.

the dvd burner makes ALOT OF "CLICKING" noises insted, the disc cannot be read, the dvd burner just kept on clicking and clicking and clicking, i edject the dvd and insted loads it at a different dvd-rom drive on my desktop pc.

to my surprise, it loads perfectly, i tried loading the disc back into the dvd burner, again it just makes a bunch of clicking noises, it was unreadable.

i was rather mad, the burn was successful, the disc was reading fine, at least until the edject button got stuck and the tray went mad as i was grabbing hold of my dvd, and in the process squash it, but that shouldn't completely rander the dvd useless, so my question is:

-why is my dvd burner not reading the disc after the disc tray "squash" it, i see no phsycal damage, not even a tiny scratched, the burn was completed successfullly in the first place, and after the burn the dvd burner was reading it fine until i push the edject button and things go mad from there, what's wrondg with it?

-how come my other dvd rom drive was able to read the dvd even though the dvd burner wasn't able to?

i have a lite-on 1693s dvd burner 16x, and a lite-on dvd rom drive READING 16x, i'm using nero 6 express and for the dvd disc i use MAXELL dvd+r 16x.

by the way i heard alot of ppl complaining about my lite on drive, it seems the drive was defect out of the box, but so far i was able to burn alot of disc without ever failing once, all my other dvds are readable by the burner, so i'm sure it's not the drive's fault, but it can''t be the little squash that ruin my dvd, can it?

thanks for the help, thanks

omg didn't anyone like reading my post, YES MY DRIVE can read every single disc, besides the one i just burnt.

the burner was reading it fine after the burn, but after i took the disc out of the drive and put it back in it doesn' read anymore.

was it becasue of the "incident " in which the "edjet" button got stuck and the drive tray squash the dvd?

there was no major damage to the dvd, i don't ubderstand, please help me, my thread is the only htread in which no one is replying, please help me please!

Your post was very long winded and yet made no mention of the most important piece of information, that being whether or not the drive could still read anything at all after the "tray incident". Anyway now you've clarified that and we know that this whole thing is limited to just one anomalous disc. Why don’t you just burn another disc and try not to get it stuck in the tray, then see if this newly burnt disc reads back ok in your burner. If it does then the other disc is just one anomaly, forget about it and move on.
